“Let me guess, research for one of your steamy love stories?” He cocked a brow as he folded his arms on his desk.

"Something like that," she replied. "You're more than welcome to come stay with us Thursday night if you want."

He snorted. “And listen to your wild, kinky sex, no thanks, love.”

“Shut up.” She gave a breathy chuckle. “You should know Roxanne, Kayla, and Kat, are coming with us.”

“You weren’t kidding about it being a girls weekend,” he muttered.

“Oh ha, ha.”

“I’ll see you at six on Friday, love,” he said, his finger hovering over the end call button.

“Wait, don’t you want to know what to pack?”

Her question threw him for a loop. “I’m sure I can pack a bag for a weekend.”

“Bring your bathing suit, club attire, and sunblock. Tons of sunblock.”

“I’m not going to a club with you, Kristen.” He lowered his voice. “I told you two years ago, BDSM and the lifestyle weren’t for me.”

“We’re going dancing.” She sighed. “I’d never force you to do anything you don’t want to, Will.”

He kicked himself. As much as he tried to stuff all of his feelings into a box and shove it to the back of his mind, he’d done a piss poor job of it. Because the niggle of jealousy and regret popped out every so often still. And, the worst part, he wasn’t sure if it was due to Tristan or the fact while everyone else had this excitement to their lives—this bonding activity with their significant other, he didn’t have or better yet, couldn’t attain the same. There was also some kind of self-deprecating guilt eating at him he didn’t want to acknowledge—ever. After the emotional tsunami, dubbed Tristan, subsided, he’d been left with the mess of his life. More than a few times he wondered if he’d found the right Dom at the time, would they still be together? Would they be in love like his friends were? He most definitely wouldn’t have met Tristan nor would he have had his sense of security stripped from him. “Right. Sorry.” He scrubbed his forehead. “I need to get back to work. I’ll call you later.”

“Promise?”

He frowned. “Yes. I promise. Now, I need to go.”

“Okay, talk to you soon.” Kristen hung up first, leaving him to stare at his computer.

Well, this should be interesting...

After coming homefrom work to find his place trashed, Will knew he had to move. It was for the best and gave him a fresh start. A few weeks after he'd decided to make the change, he found the perfect place and put in a bid. The small house near the bay allowed him a bit more privacy and a backyard for Dio to run around in while he was home. He'd also started sending the puppers to doggy daycare. He realized the day he came home and found Dio out of his crate, had it been anyone else who broke into his home, Dio could've been hurt or worse, dead. He couldn't allow anything to happen to his dog.

Shortly after moving into the sub-division, he’d met Salina Lopez and her dog Tiggy. Dio took an instant liking to the woman and her dog, so it felt serendipitous when she said she owned a doggy daycare center. As he stepped into the daycare center now, he glanced at the service board above the counter. He’d seen it a few times when he brought Dio in but didn’t pay attention because he and the owner had come to an agreement over coffee at the small community dog park.

Now, hehadto pay attention. With the upcoming trip, he’d have to leave Dio with someone who could care for him and would treat him well. Right now, he trusted Salina.Do people get separation anxiety with their pets? He shook his head. Will acted like he'd be gone for weeks when it was only for two days. He'd be home by Sunday at the latest and he'd only be an hour away if something happened—which he hoped wouldn't.

When the owner came out of the backroom, she smiled. "Mr. Anders, so good to see you. Are you here to pick up Dio?"

“Good to see you too, Mrs. Lopez. I am.” He grinned. “I also had a question.”

“Of course,” she said. “What can I do for you?”

“You offer boarding here.” He pointed to the sign. “How much advance notice do you need?”

“When do you need to board Dio?” She folded her hands on the counter.

“This weekend, if possible. I’m supposed to meet friends early Friday morning and I’ll be home Sunday evening.”

“How about you bring him to the house Thursday night? He can stay with us. I’m sure Tiggy will enjoy the company for a few days, plus, you’ll know he’ll be with friends,” Mrs. Lopez said.

“Oh, I don’t want to impose,” he replied, waving off her offer.

“No imposition at all. We’d be happy to have him. You know the girls are also smitten with your boy.” Thegirlswere Salina’s twin nine-year-old daughters Sofia and Camila.

“Well, if it won’t be any problem...”
