"We appreciate it. Please tell your team to not move anything and to be available for an interview when we arrive. Also, we're going to need the security footage if there is any, along with if the security system had been activated or used throughout the night."

“I’ll have it for you when you arrive,” Ramos replied.

Once Robert hit end on his phone, he grabbed his FBI jacket from the back of his chair and headed out, following Benjamin to his car. The drive to the museum wouldn't take long. As it was, they were nearby. The museum was located no more than three miles from his club. The area was nice and quiet. He suspected the reason it'd been a likely target had been because it was tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Anyone could get in and out without being seen. Even after grabbing all of the security footage available of each heist, he never saw a single vehicle coming or going. Which meant, to him, whoever set up the robbery knew the location and probably scouted the area before making a move.

“It’s almost as if they’re taunting us,” Benjamin said. “Like they know we’re close, but we can’t catch them.”

“We’ll catch them,” Robert muttered. “They’ll get sloppy with these stupid stunts and when they do, we’ll be there to grab them.”

“You sound like one of those made for TV detectives.” Benjamin chuckled. “Anyway, what’s the coincidence it’s near the club?”

There was that too. "I don't think the two can be related. I think they're running out of museums, to be honest. Yes, there are more than enough in the state, but not all of them have substantive pieces."

“Do you think they’re running out of money?”

“No, I think they’re getting ready to run,” he replied. “The passport is a dead give away.”

“Shit. Guess it’s a good thing we’re close.” Benjamin pulled up to the taped off area and showed his badge. When the officer lifted the guard, he pulled into the area. Like Robert suspected, quiet. “I forgot how tranquil this place is.”

Robert grunted. “Let’s get inside and see what we can find out.”

“Agent Famosa?” A man strode toward them as Robert got out of Benjamin’s car. “I’m Detective Ramos.”

“What can you tell us?” He pulled his notebook from the pocket on his jacket.

“A new piece was delivered a week ago. Yinhuì is the title by artist Jun Bao Ling. The break-in happened sometime between one and three am when the security guard has an hour for dinner. Since the museum is smaller they only have one guard on duty for each shift."

“Do you have any footage?”

The detective nodded. “Yes, we do. I also checked the security system.”

“Anything?” Robert glanced up from his pad.

“No. Nothing.” The detective frowned. “The security guard didn’t even hear anyone either.”

Probably because he left and doesn’t want to get into trouble.“Thanks. I need to speak with the curator and then take a look at the footage, if you don’t mind.”

"I have it cued up on my phone, if you want to take a look real quick?" Detective Ramos pulled his phone from his pocket and showed Robert the footage. There in full view was a shot of a blond-haired guy. His wild curly hair stuck out from under a cap as he turned to the camera and smiled. If he knew the device was there, he didn't seem to care. Maybe he didn't think he'd get caught.Someone was sloppy when they erased the video surveillance.

“Great, send me the video, I have someone who can take a look and see if they recognize them.” The only one who’d know the person, if it was who Robert thought it might be, was Will. Fuck, he hoped Will would say no. It would take the stress off of his—what did he call Will? Partner? Boy? Significant other? Did it matter at the moment? No, not right now. Later, after they closed the case, he’d see where things went with Will.

“The curator is Amelia Reynosa. She’s been on the job for six years and was supposed to be supervising the hanging of the painting this morning when her crew arrived.” Detective Ramos held the door for Robert as they entered the building. “That’s her.” He motioned to the slight woman standing with two other detectives.

“Thanks. We’ll take it from here.”

Two hours later,Robert had the master logs from the security system, along with the courier company name who brought the painting and a list of employees for the museum. The connector for all of the other cases along with this one... Da Vinci Courier. He slid back into the passenger seat of Benjamin’s car and waited for his partner to join him.

“You’re going to ask Will to take a look at the photo.” Not a question.

“Yes.” Robert checked his phone and saw the reply from Duncan. “I also have confirmation from my contact. We have someone who is willing to go through all the security systems to find out who backdoored the systems.”

“Do I want to know?” Benjamin quirked a brow.

“She’s CIA, jackass,” Robert grumbled. “She’s legit.”

Benjamin snorted. “Any means possible, sometimes means going to not so legit places.”

“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear you.” Robert rolled his eyes. “We have a good clear picture of one of the suspects too.”
