“He is thick headed and stubborn he has a scheme he won’t steer from and if anyone dares disrupt him, he will throw a tantrum” Ariana and I laughed aloud and watched Vincenzo’s face change from pride to a scowl.
“Case in point” Lorenzo motioned to Vincenzo’s grease and Dante’s grease that he was giving Uncle Lorenzo. “It’s like he knew you were insulting them” Ariana pointed out watching Dante’s unimpressed little face.
I shook my head laughing, and before I knew it Dante held his hands up and began squeezing his hands open and shut indicating he was now finished and wanted to get out.
“See” I motioned to Dante, Vincenzo laughed “that has to be the funniest and cutest thing I’ve seen in my life.” He smiled watching Dante, I stood up as Ariana threw me a towel to wrap him in. Picking him up and quickly wrapping his wet body in a towel I walked out to the bedroom. Drying him off I started dressing him up, buttoning up his onesie.
Out of breath I put my hands on my hip and watched him try to roll over to his side. “Oh my god” I screamed excited. Vincenzo, Lorenzo, and Ariana ran towards me to see what happened looking panicked.
“He is trying to roll over!” I commented, Lorenzo slapped me and let out a sigh of relief. I picked Dante up and put him on the carpet flat on his back waiting for him to roll over, “Come on!” I cheered him on and soon everyone started cheering him on with me.
“Come on leone!” Vincenzo cheered when he saw Dante start rocking himself to the side.
“Come on you, stubborn little man” Lorenzo cheered earning a scowl form me. I looked over at the door and saw Hacker and Bullseye watching and many more men behind them trying to get a peek. I looked back at Dante who rolled on his arm, the men getting excited held their heads chanting.
“Come on! YOU GOT THIS GO DANTE!” They all started chanting, jumping up and down as the excitement sunk in.
Laughing I shook my head and turned back to Dante, who had rolled back on his back. “NO!” They yelled, all of them including Vincenzo were on all fours cheering Dante on.
“Come on, one more time bud” Vincenzo spoke up.
“Come on baby” I smiled clapping my hands he looked at me then at his dad.
“Come on! Come to me” Vincenzo spoke up extending his hand out. With all the strength in his little body he flipped over rolling onto his stomach, lifting his head up his eyes grew big while he sucked on his bottom lip.
“YESSSS!” Everyone erupted in a very loud cheer, jumping up and down clapping.
I burst out laughing “oh my god and I thought I was the over excited parent” I commented watching everyone’s reaction. Vincenzo picked up Dante cheering “that’s my boy!” He kissed his cheek and lifted him in the air like his most prized possession.
I laughed watching Dante get surrounded by his dads’ men, uncle and aunty. I smiled at the sight, knowing he was so loved and treasured not just by me but by so many people warmed my soul in a way I never knew possible.
After a few minutes Vincenzo noticed Dante getting sleepy, “okay bedtime for the big boy, everyone out” he ordered, one by one everyone kissed Dante goodnight and exited the room.
“One for you!” Lorenzo baby talked kissing Dante and then looked at his brother “and one for you” he squealed out kissing Vincenzo on the cheek “ok bye” he quickly rushed out before Vincenzo could reach him.
I laughed shaking my head before sighing in self-pity, God I fucking miss her. I wish she was here.
“I’ll get him to sleep” Vincenzo whispered noticing my sudden switch in my mood, I nodded my head and stepped outside on the balcony. Leaning on the edge I took a deep breath closing my eyes allowing the wind to prickle my exposed skin.
Feeling refreshed and serene, I opened my eyes slowly looking up at the night sky. “I miss you so fucking much” I whispered. “Not a day goes by where I don’t think of you, you’re with me every single second” I emphasised just how much I think of her.
“I miss our talks, our hugs, hell even our fights. I miss every moment I had with you … I would give anything to just be with you again to go to the beach and watch the waves crash” I sighed closing my eyes a tear managing to escape.
“I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what’s going on with mum and dad and my gut keeps telling me that there’s something bad and maybe that nagging feeling is you giving me a sign that there really is something … I love you hermosa” I lowered my head back down.
“I miss her too” Vincenzo’s soft voice breaks the silence.
I looked behind me weakly smiling at him, he made his way next to me looking out at the view. “I may not have known her for long and everything I knew I forgot but, she was so special. So, forgiving, caring, loving and protective. She was the type of girl that would do anything to protect the ones she loves.” He smiled shaking his head.
“I can’t tell you the number of threats and curse words she threw at me when she thought you were gone” he let out a soft laugh.
I shook my head laughing softly “she was always a feisty one when she wanted to be” I smiled.
“She would’ve been the best aunty” he looked over at me.
“I’m sorry you won’t be able to share those experiences with her” he apologised looking guilty. I shook my head “It wasn’t your fault, Maria did what she did because she wanted to protect the people she loves and who have been protecting her and me. She saw the look in your eyes and knew in her heart what she had to do” I commented remembering the words she told me in the hospital.
“Her death won’t be in vain, don’t worry we will burn him to the fucking ground for everything his done” he reassured me, I smiled nodding my head, “I’m going to make sure he wished he burned himself in that fire.” I commented.
