I stop myself chasing after her.

For now.

She jumps back onto the couch, crossing her legs, giving me a glimpse of… everything, and I tamp down the undercurrent of desire in my stomach.

“What was that for?”

“Well, Mr. Baxter, just the sexy way you say ‘corporate governance’ does something to me.”

I laugh. “Wait until we get to the section about market penetration.”

She wiggles her eyebrows. “I think I might get an A in that section.”

I wander over to her, bracing one hand on the back of the couch, the other tilting her chin up, and lean in for another kiss. She lifts her face to mine, and then, before our lips connect, she crams the crust of her sandwich into my mouth.

I trap her fingers between my lips hard, making her squeal, and she swats at my chest, the sound of her laughter echoing around the empty office.

Falling back on the couch with a grunt, I grab her hips and pull her so she’s straddling my lap. Her laughter settles into contented sighs, and she wriggles, getting comfortable, watching me as I finish my impromptu snack, her fingers running up and down my arms.

“You’re funny,” she says, almost like an accusation.

“Duh,” I say with a wink.

“You keep it well hidden.”

“Nuh-uh. I’m a regular Charlie Chaplin.”

“The mute part, yes,” she teases me with a poke into my side.

I pout to make her laugh. “Rude.”

“Monosyllables aren’t much better, Kingsley.”

“Yes, ma’am. What would the miss prefer I be like?”

She leans in and presses a kiss to my cheek, then rests against my chest. Even though she bathed using my shower products, she still smells just like her.

“I don’t prefer anything, Mr. Baxter. I like you just the way you are. I always have, from that first night.”

My fingers twirl little strands of her hair, framing them around her face. “Which first night?”

“The night at the bar.”

“The time you harassed my customers by calling them clowns for hire or potatoes for brains?”

She snorts at the memory, and it tingles all the way through my body.

Adjusting her hips, she positions herself so that the heat between her legs presses against my groin.

I’m hard in seconds. I wasn’t that far off to begin with.

She rocks gently, knowing exactly her effect on me. “Both. I saw you the moment I stepped into the bar. You were sitting down at the end, all grumpy and glowering.”

I tilt my head back, feeling my pupils dilate from her movements even while I try to continue the conversation with her. “As I recall, I was having a rough conversation.”

“With that other hot guy?”

“No, no. There aren’t other hot guys.”
