Luna Pham is many things.

Kind, stubborn, opinionated, but never had she ever identified herself to me as a Hamilton.

She loved her father. She ached to have known him.

She was motivated in learning what his company was about and why it was so important to him.

But Hamilton isnotto her what Baxter is to me.

Hamilton was to Ernest what Baxter is to me.

Maybe Hamilton is even to Alex what Baxter is to me.

ButnotLuna.

And there should be no shame in that.

Blood oaths are sworn in blood for a reason.

Fiercely. Passionately.Voluntarily.

A forced blood oath isn't forever.

It's coercion and will never hold.

There should be no shame in it.

No matter how much someone wants you to feel that shame.

Of course.

Fuck!

"Marcus! Cancel my next appointment."

"She's not here, and you shouldn't be here either."

I push on Alex’s half open office door and storm inside.

"Iknowwhere she is. Ialwaysknow where she is, becauseIcare about her. But I don't think it's the same for you. So, no, I'm not here for her. I'm here for you. And I'm not leaving until I know what happened. You were there that day. You were there for ten minutes, and then you stormed out and she ended back in the hospital. And then she sent out a press release telling the world that she and I are not... Telling the world that she is responsible for this, when we both know that she isn't. So, you are going to suck up your shit when it comes to me, once and for all, and tell me what the hell you said to her."

He closes the door and walks back to his desk, sinking into his chair. He looks about as tired as I feel. It gives me both a sick sense of satisfaction, but also anger. As if being this distraught over Luna is my right and only mine.

"Look! I don't know why she sent that out, okay! She didn't tell me that she was going to. I only came to visit her and give her the information. I didn't know what she was going to do with it."

"Give herwhatinformation?"

He frowns and scratches the side of his head. "Look. I was just trying to help her."

"Whatinformation, Alex?"

"The day of the Baxter board meeting, I got sent a copy of the article and then later, an advance press release that Baxter was going to send out about the article. The one refuting that you and she were in a relationship. And basically throwing her under the bus for the leak."

How in the hell?

"What? How did you get that?"

"Someone anonymously sent them to me."
