"I assume Law made it out alive," I joke.

"He knew what time everything was happening, then went out the back door in the same hallway as the bathroom."

I gasp, remembering my earlier thought. "Were the cameras on?"

He chuckles. "I had to promise him to work three more nights for free to get him to turn those off for the night."

"And are my panties still sitting on the kitchen floor?"

"Right in my pocket. You didn't think I'd leave them behind for someone else to smell your wetness in, did you?"

Shaking my head, I ask, "And making my favorites for appetizers?"

"I know more than you think. But have so much more to learn. And we will learn, right? No more running?"

I'm the one to raise our hands this time, tightening my hold on his. "No more running."

I kiss his knuckles, place my lips to the ink over them.

He gives me a small smile. "Now, tell me how the Beef Wellington was."

"The absolute best thing I've ever tasted. Your mother was right to favor that dish."

"She would have loved you," he says softly.

The tears immediately rise, flooding my eyes. "You think?"

"I know. Ah, ah," he tsks as I wipe under my eye. "According to what I heard, you cried enough the past few days. No more tears. This is the beginning of new things."

"Like what?"

"Like going to sleep in each other's arms and waking up just the same way. Like being together so much that we get sick of each other."

"I could never get sick of you."

"I was just throwing that out there in case you ever do." He winks my way before looking at the road again. "Like telling each other exactly how we feel, the good and bad of it. No holding back, no assuming, no secrets."

"None of that," I agree. "Why didn't you tell me either, that you loved me?"

"I was so busy thinking the same thing as you, that you didn't return my feelings, so I was trying to work up the courage to say it. Trying to figure out how to make you fall in love with me too, so I didn't have to lose you. But then you told me we needed to end, so I figured I had to love you enough to respect that, and let you go." He comes to a red light and looks over at me. "But once I heard you talking to Sophie and Lexa, I knew I was going to get you back and never let you go. Because I meant what I said in the restaurant, Charlotte. I'm not letting you go."

"I don't want you to. But know that that means I won't let you go either."

"Then I guess we're stuck with each other, then."

I smile, then look down, wondering...

"What is it?"

"But... will we still have.. what we have together?"

He unlinks his hand from mine, brings it to my chin so I look at him again.

"We will have whatever we want to have. I'll still choke you, fuck you hard, call you my slut, my whore, and whatever else. But now, I'll just say I love you when I hold you after. I’ll just fuck you like I don't."

He leans over and I meet him halfway to kiss him while the car behind us blows its horn for us to go. We don't pay them any mind, taking our time circling each other's tongues. As I pull back, I see Jackson holding his middle finger up to the window.

"Jackson!" I exclaim.
