"Yes, that sounds great." Charlotte smiles. "So, say next week?"

"Charlotte..."

"Are you really gonna turn down your sick sister's request?" she asks, giving me the fakest puppy dog eyes.

"That is really low."

"But is it working?" Lexa snickers.

"Of course, it's freaking working, you douchebags."

"You make sure you tell me when he's coming," Lexa says. "I will call out of work for that."

"I hate you," I murmur to her as Veronica walks into the room.

"I have some great news," she announces, smiling at us.

"They found me a kidney," Charlotte jokes. We all know it can't be that because a lot more would be happening at once.

"Close. They found someone else a kidney, so you've moved up the list. The next kidney, of course, with the right circumstances and all that hoopla, is yours."

Charlotte's hands shoot up to cover her mouth. "Are you kidding me?"

"I joke a lot, but not about kidneys."

"We're so close, Char," I state. "So close."

"We got this," Lexa adds. "If Sophie's boyfriend doesn't agree to meet you, we'll knock him over the head and take a kidney from him."

"He is not my boyfriend," I grit out.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't just hear you planning an assault." Veronica chuckles. "What do you ladies..." she pauses, and my eyes snap to her.

"What's wrong?" I immediately ask.

"Her blood pressure's a little low. It's most likely from the dialysis earlier, but we'll keep an eye on it nonetheless."

I swallow nervously, before feeling Charlotte take my hand.

"All of this will be a thing of the past soon," she promises me a promise she can't truly make.

"I take it we're spending the night here," Lexa asks, bumping her shoulder into mine.

"You and me on the pull-out chair again." I smile over at her.

What would I do without the two of them?

Charlotte goes to sleep before me and Lexa, her blood pressure a little closer to normal.

"How about this one?" Lexa whispers.

I look over at her phone to see the hotel she's showing me on her screen.

"That's like an hour away," I say.

"Sounds to me like he's worth the drive. And if this is gonna end in a few months, which for the record, I don't think it is, then you better go to the best damn hotels in this country while you can."

"Country?" I chuckle.
