He grins. "Filthy."

"Well, if I had known places like this were an option, I might have texted you I wanted to go to Barbados for our Saturday."

"There's always next week."

What he said should make me laugh, make me smile, but it only goes to remind me that our time together is getting shorter, not longer. That our time will come to an end.

The car stops, and a few moments later, Carl gets out and opens the door on Law's side. Law gets out and extends his hand backinto the car. I take it, pretending my hand in his isn't taking my mind to very dangerous places.

"Thank you, Carl," he says as we begin walking.

"Of course, Mr. Kane."

Lawson Kane. How the hell have I been meeting him for a month and am just now finding that out? Does it really even matter in the grand scheme of things?

"I'm guessing this place doesn't have cabins," I joke as we walk through the large door to the hotel.

"I regret to inform you they do not."

There's no doorman like I expect there to be. There's nothing at all except a set of doors, steel and seemingly completely out of place in this ancient looking structure. Law takes a black card out of his pocket and scans it over the single device in the door. A keypad appears and Law puts in a series of numbers. Only then do the doors open, letting me finally see beyond them, at the actual hotel.

"What in the hell is this place?" I ask in awe.

"Unlike anywhere you've been before. I promise."

I expect us to walk straight to the bank of elevators I see at the far end of the lobby, but instead Law leads me toward where several restaurants are located.

"What are you doing?"

"Taking you to dinner. Which one?"

"Wh-what?"

"Which restaurant?"

I can't even take it all in, let alone decide which one to go to. Pointing to one on the left, I say, "This one."

He leads me on, his hand still holding mine. No one asks for Law's name when we reach the hostess, nothing. She just smiles and leads us to a table in a private alcove. Law pulls out the chair farther toward the back for me, and I take our private section in as I sit down. A small waterfall crashes onto the rocks to the right of us, tiny, colorful fish swimming in the pool of water. Candles burn on the table, beside a thin vase holding a single red rose. The hostess leaves, untying a ribbon at the entrance to the alcove so a dark curtain cascades down. It's only dark for a second before overheard lighting comes to life, making me look up at the chandelier that resembles crystals hanging above us.

"This is... amazing," I say.

"I've actually never been to this one."

"How many times have you been to this hotel?"

"Just twice. I got the invite about five years ago but haven't actually used it much."

"And the two times you were here?"

"The first time because, of course, I had to come see what this place was really about. The second time was to bring my brother and best friends."

My eyes widen. "You have a brother?"

He chuckles. "Why does that shock you so much?"

"Your personality very much gives off 'I'm an only child so am used to getting my way' vibes."

He laughs. Two laughs in one night. "I've never heard that one before."
