"How you love it when I put my hand on our lower back." He puts it there, and of course, just to prove his point, I shiver. "How you always let out that little sigh when I kiss your neck."

He kisses it, and I make sure to hold the sound back, only making him chuckle.

"I notice everything, Sophie," he whispers into my ear. "Like how badly you want me between your thighs right now."

I turn my head to look at him. "So, then why aren't you there?"

We end up on the bed again, then in the shower, and we end up making poor Carl wait for us yet again.

When we pull up to my apartment, Law gets out of the car to walk me to my door, handing me the bag with my dress and heels inside. I suddenly feel very awkward after opening my door because we've never had to do this before. Usually, I'd be coming home from sleeping alone at the hotel on a Sunday morning. Luckily, Law leans forward and kisses me.

"I will call you later," he says.

"Okay," I reply.

"Goodbye, Sophie." He smiles.

"Goodbye, Lawson."

He arches a brow. "Lawson now, huh?'

"Yup," I chirp.

He chuckles as I walk into my apartment. I begin closing the door as he walks back to the car, but I don't miss his last glance over his shoulder. Closing the door, I lean against it, eyes looking toward the ceiling like it has some type of answer for me. But only one sentence runs through my mind.

You're in trouble, Sophie.

Chapter 11

"You actually came," I say, in both disbelief and amusement.

"I said I would." Law chuckles. "Reporting for duty to meet Ball Breaker and Ball Grinder."

I throw my head back in laughter, not missing the soft look in his eyes as he watches me. He should not be looking at me like that. It's only making me fall harder, when I'm still trying not to fall at all. Yeah, we've both said we want more, but still a part of me whispers that he doesn't want what I want. I want more than three months, more than nights at hotels, more than even the few calls and texts we've exchanged in the days leading up to him being at my door now, picking me up to go meet Charlotte and Lexa. My heart wants the more he tells me he wants. But my mind is telling me that our mores are not the same. How can they be? He's feeding me dinners I didn't expect, and I'm over here falling in love with him over those dinners.

"You ready?" he asks.

"Yeah. Let me just get my purse."

I turn to get it off of the coffee table, and hear him say, "You look beautiful, by the way."

"Thank you." I smile at him.

I close the door, and he opens the door to a car I've never seen before.

"Oh la la. Are we riding in your actual car today?"

"That was my car on Saturday too. I just wasn't driving it. I don't like long drives. I never have."

I get into the car as he walks around to his side. It's learning the little things, like that he doesn't like long rides, that seemtoo much for me. Like I'm getting to know someone I can never keep.

"Why do you look like you're so in your head over there?" Law questions once he starts driving.

"That would be because I am."

"About?"

I look out the window. It feels easier to talk that way, without having to look at him, and his reactions. But I'm still a punk, so I make it a question for him.
