“I’m not trying to take over your dream, Celine.”

“And yet, that’s what you’re doing! How could you buy a studio for me without asking me what I want?”

I ran a hand through my hair, feeling frustrated.

What was the point of having so much money if I couldn’t use it to take care of the people I love?

“I don’t understand what you want from me, Celine.”

“I want you to treat me like an adult, damn it! Would you dare to pull such a stunt with one of your brothers?”

I wouldn’t because I wouldn’t have to. My brothers would have a five-year plan for their business in place before they started anything. Meanwhile, Celine had jumped into this without thinking. I couldn’t tell her that because she’d empty her pitcher of margarita over my head.

“In business, you have to take whatever advantage you can get and run with it, Celine. If this helps you get a head start on your business and takes three years out of your struggle, why would you turn it down? You can invest whatever you save into creating an upmarket brand.”

“I don’t want an upmarket brand because that’s not me at all. My brand will be as loud and tacky as I am,” she stated angrily, twisting my words to mean something that I had never implied.

“Jello shots for the love birds,” announced Cameron, as he brought out a tray of vile-looking neon-colored cups.

I narrowed my eyes at them and shook my head.

“I don’t think…” I began, but Celine didn’t let me finish.

“Jello shots are too tacky for His Highness, Cam,” she said, with a sneer. “He only likes upmarket drinks.”

I glared at her, too incensed to let that pass. She clearly thought I was a snob. Well, I’d show her, I decided, reaching out for a shot.

I gagged at the sweetness, but it kind of grew on me after the third one.

“Slow down, cowboy,” she exclaimed when I reached for the fourth one, forcing a fiery chicken wing into my mouth. “Here, eat this.”

“Izz delisshus,” I said, with my mouth full. “But not as delisshus as you.”

Celine shook her head ruefully and kissed me hard before she whispered that she was going to the washroom. I nodded and reached for another Jello shot. While I waited for her to get back, I decided it would be a good idea to try and ride the mechanical bull. The guy operating the machine looked doubtful, though.

“Stick your tongue out,” he ordered.

“I juzz wanna ride the bull, not play doctor,” I protested.

“No way, Richie Rich. You ain’t getting on the bull until I see your tongue.”

I stuck my tongue out reluctantly and he shook his head firmly.

“Nuh-uh. You’ve had too many of those Jello shots. I’m not letting you break your neck on the bull because as much as I like Celine, she’s a scary bitch. I don’t want to make her mad.”

Damn it! Now I knew why I hated this place. The people were too bossy!

I decided to rest my eyes for a bit as I leaned against the wall because everything seemed blurry.

When I opened my eyes again, the room was dark and eerily quiet. I raised my head and it bumped into something hard.

“Oww, how’d I get down here?” I mumbled, holding my head.

I didn’t know how or when I climbed over the bar or why I was lying under it. Where was Celine?

And where the hell were my clothes?

“Celine,” I called out slowly because even the simple act of talking felt like someone was hammering nails into my poor brain.
