“Jennings!”

“Shh, baby. You’re so keyed up. Let me calm you down.”

“Here? In the open?”

He glanced over his shoulder. The guy who’d exited the clubhouse was climbing onto his bike. He dipped his mouth to the column of Wren’s throat.

She smelled amazing. So feminine. Her natural pheromones had him by the balls and damn if he could shake off this want. One night wasnotenough.

He’d only meant to kiss her for show. Now the Disciple was rolling out of the parking lot and there was no need to continue the act.

As he teased the tip of his tongue over the soft portion of her neck below her dainty earlobe, his cock hardened to full mast. Only one taste and he wanted more.

She set her fingers into his shoulders. “J—”

“Jay,” he filled in for her before she slipped with his real name again.

She stilled. “Jay.”

He raised his head and pierced her in his stare. “We need to go inside. Are you up for this?”

She shook her head. “I don’t know.”

“I believe in you.”

Her brow creased in the cutest of skeptical looks. “You would be the only one, then.”

Her comment startled a bark of laughter from him. He leaned in and stamped a soft kiss to her full mouth before straightening to his full height.

“Just follow my lead.”

“I’ll do what I can.”

As he caught her by the hand and led her across the gravel to the entrance of the club, he thought about that statement. Coming from a woman with the kind of fortitude she displayed, he guessed that her lowest effort far surpassed what others gave of theirall.

When they walked in, several guys called out greetings to him. Jennings gave them chin lifts of greeting but kept his arm securely around Wren. A few of the women who hung around the club shot Wren dirty looks.

“Why are they looking at me like that?” she whispered to him.

He leaned in to kiss the top of her head. “I’ve rejected all of them at least three times.”

Approaching the bar, he slowed his steps. Cole twisted on his stool. His stare hit Wren and lingered for a beat too long. She mashed herself closer to Jennings, and he held her firmly.

Cole shifted his attention back to him. “I’d like to talk to you a minute.”

“Sure, what’s up?”

He looked at Wren. Seeing that the vice president wanted her to make herself scarce, Jennings reluctantly released her. He gave her a small pat on the ass, sending her across the room to the table of ladies that already disliked her because she’d earned a higher position just by being on his arm.

A Disciple wouldn’t give attention to his woman over his VP, but it took a lot for Jennings to keep from turning his head to watch her walk away.

“Pour our man a drink, Hound,” Cole said to the guy behind the bar. The new recruit was swiped directly from Shadowlands.

The guy set a glass on the bar and poured him a double. When Jennings fisted the vodka, he stole a sideways glance at Wren. She stood with the ladies and seemed to be holding her own. A couple of them had stopped shooting glares at her.

“Got a job for you, Jay.”

He twitched his head to eye his VP. “You know I’m here for anything.” Even as he said it, he knew he could be getting in deeper than he ever had. He hoped that was the case.
