“What’s that look for?” she asked, her voice not as chipper as it was mere two seconds before.

“Okay, so…” I started, taking one step toward her, “This may take a while…so I hope you planned to stay.”

“I will sleep on your couch if I need to. Just spill it.” Jamie sat on my sofa, her eyes locked on me as I took a deep breath and sat across from her, the bag of tacos sitting between us.

“You stayed the night, and he covered you with a blanket on his couch?” Jamie repeated to me. I told her everything from the day with Holly up until moments before she arrived.

I nodded.

“You went to the carnival with him Holly, and he won you a giant panda?”

I nodded again.

“You fell asleep on his shoulder riding the ferris wheel?”

I nodded for the third time. “I was tired. It was a long day.”

“And now he’s just asked you out on a date?” Her smile widened. “And you said yes!?”

“Well, technically I said I would love to.” I slumped onto my couch a little farther, sinking into the crack of the cushion.

Jamie made a sound that should not have come out of any human. “I told you!” She leaned forward on her knees, complete glee on her face. “I told you he wants to date you.”

“Well, I think it’s because of your silly comment that I said yes,” I admitted.

“No, you said yes because you’ve been pining for him just like he’s been pining for you for the past twelve years.”

I shook my head and rolled my eyes. “We have not been pining for each other for twelve years. I never really saw Milo that way untilyouput it in my head.”

Jamie's tight lips formed a small grin, and her eyes narrowed. Her honey blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, but as she shook her head, it swayed back and forth, hitting her shoulders.

“There must have been something there already for you to start feeling somethingnow. All I did was nudge you in the right direction.” She stood, reaching up to tighten her ponytail. “Now, I’m going to pour myself a glass of wine and eat some tacos. You can think about Milo all you want, but I’m watching this chick flick.”

Jamie disappeared into the kitchen, a sway in her step. I reached for my phone on the coffee table and brought it to life. Ophelia had sent me a text, reminding me to call her in the morning. I heaved a sigh. I would be in need of her fashion sense tomorrow. Having absolutely no clue what Milo was going to plan, I needed to dress for anything. The only problem was my wardrobe was limited.

Other than the dresses Ophelia had made me, I owned t-shirts, jeans, and scrubs.

That was it.

None of those would be suitable for a first date.

Second date.

Technically, this was a second date.

I sighed, the air from my lung shaking as I bit my bottom lip and threw my phone on the couch next to me. First date, technically.

“What movie are we watching?” I asked Jamie as she reappeared with two wine glasses, mine thankfully filled with sparkling cider.

“I brought a few options, all rom-coms and all mushy happy endings.” Jamie’s smile beamed brighter as she reached into her bag, pulling outHe’s Just Not That Into You, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, and the new J.Lo film,Marry Me.

I pointed to Owen Wilson’s nose. “This one.”

“Perfect choice.” Jamie applauded and went to load the Blu-ray player.

With no word from Milo, I headed to the stores after lunch. I needed something new to wear, and my nerves were not helping the situation. Parking my car, I pulled out my phone, opening up a thread to Milo.

Details would be appreciated!I added a smile emoji just for giggles. I knew him. The small yellow circle would make him smile.
