Cali shrugs. “They’re man-eating fish, Scar. They’re not supposed to be cute. They’re supposed to be terrifying.”

A shiver runs down my spine. “They’re pretty freaking terrifying. And so ugly.”

We’re standing in front of the enormous fish tank we ordered along with the piranhas. Apparently, it takes over three hundred of these ugly things to actually eat a human body. We only got a dozen.

“They’ll definitely gobble up some fingers and toes,” I murmur.

“For sure.”

“You should give them a fish stick and see if they eat it,” Kylie says over the video call.

Kylie, Lucy, Addie, Brynn, Ellie, Nora, Emma, and Ava are all huddled together to see our new friends through the screen. The ten of us created a group chat and have been keeping each other entertained non-stop with our antics. Kylie is definitely the naughtiest one of their group, but she’s also a lot of fun. I think she secretly likes having her bottom spanked, which is why she causes so much chaos.

The sound of men’s voices has us widening our eyes.

“We gotta go. The guys are back, and we don’t want them to see the fish,” Cali says.

“What are you going to do with them?” Addie asks.

I grin. “We put their tank on wheels so we can move it around. We’re going to store them in one of the spare walk-in closets.”

The women are laughing as we end the call.

“Hurry. We need to hide them,” Cali hisses.

“It’s a little late for that,” Bash says.

We spin around and smile as six men stare back at us with their hands on their hips.

Shoot.

“Hi, Daddy!” Cali says brightly.

Lord, my sister. She is something else.

“Hi, Little girl. I see you bought piranhas.”

She glances at me, and I shoot the men the same smile she’s sporting. Might as well play along.

“Well, you see, we actually rescued them,” I say. “Yeah. Yeah, we rescued them. We saw them on one of those sad commercials with the sad song playing because they were homeless and forgotten and hungry. We felt so bad for them that we called the number, and the next thing you know, here they were.”

Cali nods. “Yeah. We were just going to donate money to feed them, but the people said they needed a home, and we couldn’t let them be homeless, Daddy. It would have been a travesty.”

Killian looks up to the ceiling, and I’m pretty sure he’s quietly counting, though I’m not positive. Grady and Ronan are fully amused while Bash and Kieran are staring at us like we’ve lost it. Declan looks like he doesn’t know what to think. And my Daddy…well, he looks like he wants to spank my ass and kiss me at the same time.

“Don’t we have a rule about lying?” Declan asks Killian.

Killian nods. “Oh, definitely. It’s one of the first rules.”

Declan looks at us with raised eyebrows. “Are you two lying right now?”

We glance at each other, silently communicating that it’s time to drop the act.

I sigh. “Yes. The fishies weren’t homeless. We just wanted them. But we did all kinds of research on them and we know how to take care of them and just think, if you need to get rid of fingers and toes, you have a resource now.”

“Yeah,” Cali says proudly.

The men all look at each other, seeming to be silently communicating. When they turn their attention back at us, I shrink.
