His possessiveness was so hot.It turned her on how much he wanted her.He never tried to hide it, either.If they were in the same room together, his hands were pretty much always on her.It made her feel sexy and desired.
“We have a little time,” she whimpered.
“We do.So, what am I going to do with my Little girl in that time?”he asked, flexing his hips toward her.
Before she could answer, his mouth was on hers as they started clawing at each other to remove every bit of clothing they wore.
It felt like she was walking on cloud nine.A few months before, she never would have pictured her life as it was now.Happy.Full of love.Fun.Those were never things she’d considered, but now that she had them, she couldn’t imagine her life any other way.
Levi was on his first shift back at the firehouse.Even though he’d only been gone for twelve hours, she’d been missing him terribly.Which was how she ended up in the community room with Ivy, Carlee, and Remi for a slumber party.None of the women worked the next day, so their Daddies had agreed to let them stay up later and have a camp out in the clubhouse.
Blankets and sheets were strewn all over the room.Chairs, couches, and tables helped keep the linens held up, creating the most epic fort Harper had ever seen.They even had string lights in it.
“Okay, girls.Here’s some popcorn and a little bit of candy for you to share,” Steele said as he set down a heaping bowl but only a small handful of chocolates.
Ivy giggled and rolled her eyes.“Daddy, we need more candy than that.”
He raised his eyebrows.“No, you don’t.The last thing you need is candy.You four have been hyper all night as it is.”
Harper smiled.They had been a bit excitable over the past few hours.But Gabriel had let them make homemade pizzas, which he was probably still regretting since they’d gone a little wild with the toppings.Then they’d gotten to sit at the table and play with clay.Of course, Remi got scolded for making inappropriate sculptures, and Carlee had gotten in trouble for throwing clay balls at her Daddy.Harper had been on her very best behavior, though.
Once the movie started, they quieted and munched on popcorn.About halfway through, Harper got up and went to the suite she was living in with Levi so she could go potty.On her way back toward the community room, Kade stopped her halfway.
“Hey, Little one.Are you having fun?”
She nodded.“Yeah.Thank you for letting Remi have a sleepover with me.I know I’m gonna have to learn to be here without Daddy.”
Kade’s eyebrows furrowed, and she tensed, worried she’d said something to make him angry.When he took a step toward her, she flinched.His eyes widened, and he looked as though she’d slapped him.Like he was hurt.She immediately felt awful.
“I’m sorry, Little one.I didn’t mean to scare you.I was going to give you a hug.”
A hug?What?She was so confused.
This time, when he reached out, she didn’t move.He cupped her chin gently and smiled at her.Kade was a beautiful man when he smiled.Not that she would tell him.He probably wouldn’t appreciate that sort of compliment.
“I know you don’t know us yet, but none of us will ever hurt you.We’d rather cut off our own limbs before we hurt a woman.As far as you learning to be here without Doc, you don’t have to.There’s always at least one Little girl here to have a sleepover with, and any of the men here would be happy to come crash on the couch in your suite if you didn’t want to be in there alone.What I’m trying to say is you’re part of this family, and we all take care of each other.If you need anything, it doesn’t matter if Doc is here or not, you can come to any of us.Okay?”
Tears formed in the corners of her eyes, and she quickly brushed them away.“Thank you.I’m sorry I flinched.It’s habit.”
His eyes looked sad again.“I understand, sweetheart.It’ll take time.I wish I’d gotten to throw a punch or two at that fucker.”
She smiled and sniffled.“Me too.”
Kade chuckled and released her chin.“You know you don’t have to behave here, right?You’re safe to be naughty like the rest of the Little girls.”
Wow.She hadn’t expected that.
“Doc’s made it clear to all of us that disciplining you other than time out isn’t allowed.That doesn’t mean we won’t tell your Daddy if you do something naughty.I think I can speak for all the Daddies here.We like when our girls cause a bit of mischief.It gives us an excuse to redden their bottoms.We’d never hurt them, though.No one here will ever hurt you.”
Without thinking, she threw her arms around his waist.“Thank you.”
He immediately wrapped his arms around her, and she felt another small weight of the past lift off her shoulders.
Remi skipped up to them, and Harper released Kade, feeling guilty about hugging her friend’s Daddy.Was it okay that she’d done that?Would Remi be mad at her?
“It’s okay.You can hug my Daddy any time.Any time you need comfort and your Daddy isn’t here, you can go to him.He’s the best at making Littles feel better when they’re sad,” Remi said as she hugged Kade’s side.
Harper smiled at her friend, unable to form words, so instead, she nodded and blinked several times to keep more tears from falling.
