Think. Speak.“Uh… I haven’t been in yet.”

“Good. We can go together.” She took his hand and led him to the pool steps.

“This is the life.” Tess bobbed on a floatie a few feet away.

“Perfection after that hike earlier,” Lyric agreed, wading into the water with him. She still hadn’t let go of his hand.

The pool was warm and soothing on his skin, but it was the woman next to him who heated his body.

“I can’t believe you two kept your relationship a secret.” Kyra sat on the edge of the pool not far away. “I mean, now that I’m looking at you, it’s so obvious how crazy you are about each other.”

“I’d say they’re both smitten,” Tess agreed from her floatie.

“Yep. I’m not sure how we managed to hide it either.” Lyric gazed up at him like an adoring girlfriend would. Was she telling the truth, or was it part of their act? Hell, he didn’t know anymore.

“Our buddy Thatch here is good at keeping secrets.” Leave it to Aiden to bring up his bronc riding right now. “Who all knows that we get to watch him compete during Rodeo Days?”

“Compete?” Kyra slid into the pool. “What does that mean?”

“Our boy here is now a bronc rider.” Aiden slung his arm around his wife. “If you can believe that.”

“Seriously?” Tess paddled closer to them. “Well, that’ll be something to see.”

“He’s really good.” Lyric edged closer to him, almost protectively, her bare skin brushing his. “I’ve seen him ride.”

“Thanks,” he murmured, brushing his lips close to her ear. The urge to kiss the soft skin of her earlobe almost overpowered him.

“Boy, am I glad that secret’s out,” Silas mumbled. “Too many secrets. Can we all just agree to tell each other everything? I’m not good at keeping things on the down low.”

Thatch wasn’t either. But this thing between him and Lyric was starting to feel more real by the hour.

“I’m not telling you people all my secrets,” Tess sassed. She reached for the beach ball bobbling nearby. “How about we play keep-away instead? Guys versus girls.”

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea, babe—” Silas started.

But Tess interrupted. “Losers have to make dinner for our next triple date!”

She fired the ball in Lyric’s direction, and Thatch had to admit that the woman had some good reflexes. Lyric caught the ball and darted away from him before he could grab it from her.

“Kyra!” She lobbed the ball up, but Aiden dove to intercept it.

“She was throwing it to me!” Kyra tried to swat the ball, but Aiden hit it over to Silas.

“I’m pretty sure you don’t want to take us on.” Silas taunted his wife with the ball, keeping it just out of her reach. “Don’t forget, we have some seriously good evasive skills.” He tossed the ball to Thatch.

“We have skills too.” Lyric’s tone had a naughty ring to it. The woman sashayed over to him, dripping wet, and then launched her body at him. Thatch instantly dropped the ball so he could catch her in his arms, bringing herclose. Their eyes met and his heart clicked back into place, and he kissed her because she was right there in his arms, and he could.

Lyric’s arms came around his shoulders, and she wrapped her legs around his waist, kissing him back every bit as intensely as he was kissing her, and good God if his friends weren’t standing right there, he would’ve lost control real fast.

“I’ve got it!” Tess yelled triumphantly. “I got the ball! And you can’t steal it from a pregnant lady. We win!”

Let them win.Thatch forced himself to set Lyric down. “That was sneaky.” Albeit very effective.

“Completely unfair,” Aiden declared. “Come on, man.” His friend punched his arm. “Seduction is the oldest trick in the book. Show a little restraint.”

“I would if I could,” he said helplessly. But when it came to Lyric, he didn’t even want to try.

“Personally, I’m glad that’s over.” Kyra pulled herself out of the pool and opened a small shed near the fence. “I came here to relax.” She tossed a few more rafts onto the pool deck.
