Thatch flicked through the guide until he foundTop Gun. “A classic.”

Lyric murmured a sleepy sigh, and he eased his arm around her, holding her against him. In less than half an hour, her head rested heavily on his arm and her breathing grew rhythmic.

Trying not to move too much, Thatch reached for the remote and flicked off the TV. His arm was starting to fall asleep from the way Lyric was lying on him, but he didn’t even care. He wouldn’t move.

He would hold her for as long as he had the chance.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Lyric woke up in a warm, contented, lazy haze that had everything to do with the man still nestled against her underneath the quilt. When she opened her eyes, two things hit her. One: Thatch had kept his arm around her all night as they’d slept, and two: she had this gorgeous, loyal, caring heartthrob of a man in bed with her and they’d spent the whole night sleeping.

Only sleeping.

She glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It wasn’t even eight yet, so they still had plenty of time before meeting their friends for breakfast.

Plenty of time fornotsleeping.

Without moving her head, she checked out Thatch, desire spilling through her. His head was tilted on the pillow, face toward hers, his broad jaw relaxed, those magnetic eyes still closed. With his chest positioned against her shoulder, she could feel his strength, his warmth, and his heartbeat, slow and steady.

Her pulse wasn’t slow. Not anymore. Not in this beautiful bed with this remarkable man who’d shown her so much care. But she couldn’t exactly kiss him and wake him up in her current state.

Lyric carefully shimmied off his arm, pausing while he grunted and turned over.

Don’t wake up. Don’t wake up.She wasn’t quite ready for him to see her yet.

When his breathing evened out again, she rolled out of the bed and crept into the bathroom.Whoa.Her hair. Most of it had escaped the braid she’d fashioned last night and was now sticking out at random angles. Good thing she’d looked in the mirror before seducing the man again!

Turning on the water, she wet her hands and then smoothed her hair into another braid down her back. Next, she brushed her teeth and washed her face, applying a citrus-scented moisturizer to plump her cheeks.

Now on to her attire.

Her frumpiest pajamas had seemed like a good idea—a safeguard—when she’d packed for this trip, but they didn’t reflect all the sexy thoughts she now had about Thatch and her in bed. She snuck back into the bedroom and started to carefully and quietly dig through her suitcase.

Hmmm. She could go with the button-down Henley and unbutton enough of the buttons to show her black lacy bra. That would probably be her best bet—

“I hope you’re not sneaking out on me,” Thatch said in a groggy voice.

Lyric whirled to the bed, her heart all lit up. “Um, no. I just need…”You.But she wasn’t quite ready to say that yet. “Um, I need a minute. But you stay right there.” Sheraced back into the bathroom and quickly changed into the Henley, undoing the buttons until a glimpse of her bra peeked through the neckline.

“Okay,” she whispered, taking one last look in the mirror. The pajama pants weren’t great, but hopefully they wouldn’t be on too long anyway. At least her unbuttoned shirt should give the man a clue about her intentions.

Before she could second-guess herself, she stepped back into the bedroom. Thatch had sat up, his upper body propped against the many fluffy pillows on the bed. Both his T-shirt and hair were all askew, which only made him sexier.

“Sorry if I woke you up.” Her voice had gone sultry without her even trying. Every part of her was warm and melty and ready. She was so ready for this.

“I’m not sorry.” Thatch’s gaze zeroed in on the V-neck of her shirt. “Do you always look this good when you wake up?”

“Totally.” She crawled back into bed and turned on her side to face him. “I woke up with a lot of energy this morning.” Good energy. Humming energy. “And we have some time before we’re supposed to meet everyone for breakfast.”

“That’s true.” He turned on his side, too, facing her. “So what’d you want to do?”

“How about a little bit of this…?” She let the whisper trail off into a kiss, touching her lips to his for the briefest second before pulling back.

“I could be persuaded.” The words were a low growl.

“And maybe a little bit of that?” Lyric sat up and tugged at his shirt, pulling it off over his head.

“What about a little bit of this?” Thatch sat up also, taking her in his arms and kissing her mouth hard and decisively, exactly the way she wanted him to.
