He says nothing, and I huff out a laugh.

“See? You can’t even think of a reason.”

I start to pull away from him, but he stops me.

“A line from a poem comes to mind. And if the devil was to ever see you, he’d kiss your eyes and repent.”

“Quoting Farouq Jwaideh?” His eyebrows lift, and I smile. “Grandmama made sure we were well read. But what does that have to do with me?”

“I think it’s obvious,” he says right before his lips cover mine in the softest kiss.

I try not to look too much into it. I really do. But it’s no use. I’m falling for this man, and I think there’s a chance that he just might feel the same for me. But will that be enough?

Our month is almost up and both of us seem to realize it. We have four days left, so Odin took off, letting his brothers handle things for him. We’re in the living room, fucking on the couch. I don’t think I’ll ever look at any piece of furniture in this penthouse the same.

“Yes,” I pant.

Odin does that thing I like, sending me over the edge. It’s on the tip of my tongue to tell him I love him. Instead, I kiss him as he throbs inside of me.

I’m still riding high on pleasure when a guard clears his throat from the doorway.

“Sir, Elsa is here, and the doorman has just put her in the lift. She’ll be here in a moment.”

Odin’s gaze snaps to mine as reality settles over us.

“What is she doing back?” I whisper.

“Guess we’re about to find out.” He kisses me. “Better tidy up. You have that freshly fucked look about you.”

I laugh at him. “I’m not the only one.”

We make quick work of dressing. I use a mirror on the wall to brush my hair down. God, if she had come earlier, she might have caught us in the dining room as Odin took my ass against the table. My body heats just thinking about it.

The elevator dings and a moment later, Grandmama lifts her nose as she enters. God, I hope she can’t tell what we’ve been doing.

“Elsa,” Odin says, kissing her cheek. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”

“I’m actually here to see my granddaughter.”

She moves past Odin so that I, too, can kiss her cheek. I glance at Odin, who’s standing behind her, smirking at me.

“Hello, Grandmama. This is a surprise. I thought you were still in Rome with Mother.”

“I thought Selma and her sisters would have more fun without me there during their last few days of freedom.” She sits and pats the spot next to her. “Sit.”

On the same couch Odin and I were just fucking on…

I sit, trying not to laugh at the irony.

“You look like you’ve lost weight. Good. No man wants a fat wife.”

Now my cheeks are flushed for a different reason.

In my peripheral vision, I see Odin scowl before taking a seat in a chair near the couch.
