I shrug, turning my back to him. I swear he growls and the next thing I know, I’m being hauled over his shoulder, fireman style.

“Odin, put me down!”

He doesn’t answer and carries me from the dance floor, up a flight of stairs to the second floor. His pace doesn’t slow until we’re inside his office. He kicks the door shut and puts me on my feet.

“I get it. You, caveman. Me, bad girl.” Okay, that’s probably the Long Island Tea talking. “Why am I up here? It’s freezing.”

Odin sits on a black leather couch, spreading his legs. Fuck. Why does he make that look so sexy? Behind him, I can see the dance floor below us through a tinted window.

“You want to dance, baby girl, then you’ll dance for me.”

He presses a button and the same music playing downstairs plays in here. I don’t know what kind of sound system he has, but the bass is so loud that I feel it in my chest. Fine. He wants me to dance, then I’m going to dance. Closing my eyes, I let myself get lost in the song, the same way I was before he so rudely pulled me off the dance floor.

My body sways to the beat, but this feels different than it did before. His gaze sears my skin, making all of my senses come alive. Even from here, his cologne teases my nose. There’s a hint of cigar smoke, as if he smoked recently. My shirt rubs my breasts, making my nipples harden. And god knows that I’m already wet between my legs. He has that effect on me, even though I try to deny it.

The song changes to another one that I love, and I open my eyes, smirking down at Odin as I move.

“You must not be in charge of the music selection.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Well, they’re playing good songs. I’m sure you only listen to oldies from the 1900s.”

I’m goading him and he takes the bait.

“1900s?”

“You know, when you were born.”

He snorts. “Are you trying to piss me off, baby girl?”

“Why? Is it working?”

He reaches for me, but I dart out of his way, laughing.

“Come on, old man. You’re going to have to do better than that if you want to catch me.”

He slowly stands, making my heartbeat kick up a notch.

“Catch you, eh? What do I get when I catch you?”

I don’t miss that he saidwheninstead ofif, as if he’s so sure hewillcatch me.

“What do you want?”

His lips lift in a smile. “You.”

“Lameandpredictable.” I click my tongue. “If I get out of this office, then I win my freedom. No more lockdown in my room. No more rabbit food. I’ll agree to a curfew. Heck, I’ll even agree to text you when I leave the house.”

“That’s quite mature of you, but you’re not going to make it to the door.”

“So we have a deal, then?”

“We do.”

He rolls up the sleeve of his shirt past his elbow and does the same to the other. Heat courses through me and I clench my thighs together. Damn him for being so sexy.

“Do I get a countdown?”
