“My friends and I have always had each other’s backs. I’m out there, so if I’m not with them, then they need to know I’m with someone safe. As far as them dating, they’re both really busy right now, so relationships aren’t what they’re into. Since I ditched them at the party they panicked. I just wanted some breathing room. Sometimes things can get … intense.” Her voice trailed off into her beer as she took a long draw so as not to engage in any more conversation.

“I bet they can. You, like me, are always in the public eye. So … I have an offer for you. Seeing you’ve missed most of the basketball game, and it’s not much fun, in my opinion, to drink alone, why don’t we head over to my place for a drink and some conversation?”

Her head cocked, and her eyes narrowed.

“You are not inviting me over to talk.” She glared. “You’re well known for the women you date. I’m not the only one with a reputation here.”

“No, you’re right. I’m not inviting you over to talk.” I smiled back at her and rubbed her shoulder. “Are you interested?”

Chapter 3

Kylie

Oh God, oh, Jesus. He was asking me to go home with him. He was so handsome, but that was it, that’s all I knew about Alec Blair other than he was one of the richest men in Manhattan.

“I’m not who you think I am … I mean I am, but …” Fuck, I was so flustered he had my mind and my Vjay in knots.

Part of me wanted to go home with him and have sex until I couldn’t stand up in the morning, and the other part of me, the sane part, knew that’d never work. I wasn’t Kylie Morgan. I was Kylie Morgan Konslavky, a foster kid who had some really shitty people in her life do some really crappy things to her. I didn’t sleep around. I pretended like I did so I could control the game, but in truth, I’d only had two short-term boyfriends and never a one-night stand.

“What’s holding you back?” He leaned in as if he was studying me.

“I don’t just go home with people. I know it might look like it, but I’m … it’s all smoke and mirrors. You should know; I’m sure you’ve dated your fair share of models, the agencies spin things to keep them interesting.”

“You must be quite dizzy then. They’ve done a lot of spinning in your case. To answer your question, I have dated a lot of supermodels, but I haven’t dated you.” His smile could melt Satan.

“Cute line, Alec, but no.” I gently pulled my arm away from him and instantly regretted it.

“What are you afraid of? Getting a bad reputation? It seems you’ve already beat yourself to that. Worried that I might end up clingy and controlling? Nope … I have no desire to keep you. I’ll throw you right on back to the pretty boys you’re used to. If you’re afraid of fucking so hard your mind explodes and sends you to the moon, then maybe, just maybe you should be a little worried about that. But I promise you one thing, Kyle …” His voice deepened and slithered over my nickname … so observant. “You’ll be leaving me so wet and wrung out you’ll hardly be able to stand. That might be a nice memory one day …”

I took a deep breath and finished my beer.

“I want to say no.” I batted my eyes and lifted my gaze up from my thick-rimmed beer mug.

He punched something into his phone and stood up, giving me his arm. “But I’m glad you’re saying yes. Shall we then?”

I took his arm. “I really shouldn’t be doing this.” Suddenly I felt sick and reminded myself I could always refuse him later.

“Yes, you should.” He pulled me in closer.

His driver pulled up in a town car, and I scooted in. Everything smelled of warm leather and men’s cologne. This man was built for seduction. He raised the partition between us and the driver.

“So …” I nervously shifted in my seat. “I can still say ‘no’ to this, right?”

“You can try.” He leaned and gathered me into his lap.

My first instinct was to push away from him, but there was something so dominant and sexy about Alec. I couldn’t resist. I knew I’d have to later, but in that instant, I let him seduce me. The power of his erection was so shocking I actually bucked my ass off of his lap when I felt it.

“What the hell?” I realized after saying it that I was probably being a shithead; I mean it was his dick, after all, and he may have been sensitive about it, most men were.

He was taking me home for the sole purpose of having sex, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise that he had a boner. He’d probably been sporting it most of the evening.
