That was their style, they knew not to encroach on my turf, and I was glad for it, though most were married, they didn’t mind a little flirting, but with Avery, they stayed clear.

“She’s lovely, mate,” Patrick threw out there.

“She’s smokin’” I did my best American cowboy impression which wasn’t too impressive.

“Don’t… just don’t,” Patrick laughed.

At that moment Avery took the stage.

“Welcome everyone and thanks for coming. I hope y’all are enjoying the Guinness but aren’t getting too bolloxed…” she giggled at her horrible use of Irish slang. It was definitely cringeworthy.

“Oh, you two are made for one another,” Patrick gaffed.

“Aren’t we just.” I played along,

Then the Irish dance music started, and I did my best not to physically grimace. This was a very posh affair and full of New York’s finest, but the cheesier culturally appropriating aspects weren’t lost on me. They were made with good intentions but were borderline offensive. I was starting to feel just the slightest bit off about my dear little nymph when the models started to walk the runway in ripped clothes that were painted in neon over the green and suddenly the music took on a different meaning. The show wasn’t taking itself seriously, so over the light skipping beat came models where their titties were poking through green-hued tatters and asses, both male and female were barely contained.

The crowd started going mad when models grabbed each other and started kissing on stage. A man wearing a green top hat and no shirt kissed a girl wearing a green mini-dress and combat boots. Though they seemed like they were a man and a woman, it was hard to tell, but looked like ‘they.’ It was weird and cool and got the crowd going. A bodhran player walked out after them tapping a mad beat on his handheld drum.

The energy of the place escalated as an Uilleann pipe player joined the drum and a pack of girls flocked the runway wearing different shades of green tulle, satin, and leather. They hit the end of the runway and their dance was wild and chaotic. My heart pounded and my cock flared. Avery sure knew how to bring on the theatrics, damn, it made me so horny. Every person’s garment was sexy, slightly provocative, and yet sensible enough for nightwear, except for the first ones that were purely for the exhibition. But those showing a pop of titty seemed as if it wasn’t anything… which brought an air of cool to the whole show.

Chapter 3

Avery

The runway was going so well, much better than I thought it would. We had practiced and rehearsed so much that I thought the models were over it, but the crowd gave them renewed energy. I’d never seen the show done so well as it was that night. The run-through that morning had been awful, but at the event, they lit the stage with perfection. A wave of pride washed over me. I almost forgot about the sexiest man I’d seen in a million years.

He was tall and rugged, but refined. He had golden hair with red highlights and the most mesmerizing green eyes. He was built, but not bulky and his accent, god he had me wetting myself just listening to the way he spoke.

I was hoping the show would go off without a hitch and there wouldn’t be too much elbow-rubbing afterward because I had to get back to that man. No one had fired me up like that for years. He was easily the sexiest man alive. He was so lucky; I hadn’t launched myself at him after he offered me a beer. When the clapping ended, I thanked the crowd, told them to eat, drink, and be merry and entered the throng. The first to apprehend me was Kylie.

“Seriously, Ave, that was a fire. You are so freaking talented.” She kissed me and gave me the best hug she could with a drooling Elijah between us. “I’m so proud of you.” I could tell by her glowing expression she was telling the truth.

“Thank you, Kyle, it means a lot, but you did this too. This is us, remember.”

Her expression dropped a little. “Sorry, I’ve left you hanging lately.”

“I know, bitch. What the hell? You go and almost die having a baby, then you have the nerve to get married, have a honeymoon and raise all this money for Every Dream. I mean damn where have you been, you slacker?”

She couldn’t help but crack a smile. “Okay, at least I’m forgiven.” It felt good to laugh with her. “So, you probably aren’t going to love this, but Alec and I are heading out. Elijah’s cutting a tooth and…” she shrugged and didn’t finish the rest of her sentence. “Sorry…”

“No, you’re good. I didn’t think he was going to even last this long.” I tried to be reassuring.
