Scowling at him, I realized he’d played me. He just wanted to see if I could get out of the cuffs.

He grabbed me by the hood of my sweatshirt and walked me back into the room. Shoving me against the wall, he barked at me, “Put your hands up on it.”

I thought about ignoring him, but really where would that get me?Manhandled, I decided, and since that wasn’t what I wanted I placed my hands on the wall. He kicked my feet apart and started patting me down. The man should’ve been a cop. I hissed out a breath when he frisked my boobs. He continued moving on in a professional manner. He was getting about as much enjoyment from this as I was—none.

I scowled when he shoved a huge hand in the front pocket of my jeans.Damn it.

His grunt sounded victorious as he stuffed my key into his pocket. Grabbing me by the upper arm, he marched me over toward the bed. Again, I considered fighting him, but I knew a losing battle when I saw one. Biding my time was a better option.

Luca motioned for me to get back onto the bed. I stared at it then at him. His lips flattened into a straight line. “Don’t make me put you there.”

I sighed and sat down on the bed. I was getting really sick of these assholes telling me what to do and forcing compliance. It was time to figure out a way to get out of this house and away from Nico and his goons.

Luca handcuffed both wrists to the headboard this time. He gave me a speculative look. “Behave.” With that he turned and walked out of the room again.

Scoffing, I looked around and did the limited amount of snooping I could from over on the bed. As if Nico wasn’t devastatingly gorgeous to begin with, his walk-in closet would be enough to have women lusting over him. The thing was as big as my apartment and I could only see a fraction of the inside.

I tugged uselessly on my wrists and sighed. How was I going to get out of this? I didn’t have my spare key anymore. I settled back on the bed and closed my eyes, willing my brain to come up with a plan.

Chapter 19

Nico

Iglanced at my watch as Luca stuck his head into my office. It was six a.m., and I hadn’t been to sleep yet. “I thought I told you to watch her?” I growled at him.

“She’s restrained.”

I narrowed my eyes at him and was about to ask what he meant when someone pushed past him and shoved the door all the way open.

“Where the fuck is she? I know you have her. You realize kidnapping people is illegal and makes you a fucking psychopath, right?” Dante was breathing hard as he stormed over and slammed his hands down on my desk.

Leaning back, I linked my hands over my stomach and watched my brother. He was furious. “What-”

“Where is Havoc?” Dante interrupted me.

I had to fight to smother my temper. He was standing in my home, making demands, and it pissed me off. It made me even angrier that he felt he had a right to my woman. “She’s fine.”

“Not what I asked, Nico.”

Luca let out a snort of laughter, but coughed when my eyes flicked to him. He was holding back a grin as he observed me and my brother.

“Leave it alone, Dante.”

“Or what?”

“Don’t test me, little brother,” I snarled at him. I saw recognition flicker in his eyes. He knew he was pushing me past the limit. There was only so much disrespect I would put up with, even from him.

Dante’s jaw clenched as he stood silently in front of me. Indecision warred in his eyes. I waited to see whether recklessness or logic would win out. Finally, defeat crept in. “This isn’t over, Nico. You can’t just take a woman and get away with it.”

“Can’t I?” I asked him in amusement. “Besides, she’s a guest here. She can leave anytime she likes.”

Dante scowled at me. He was trying to figure out if I was lying. One of the things I inherited from my father was his excellent poker face. I didn’t need Dante hanging around, getting in the way. He didn’t need to know what was truly going on here.

“Then let me see her,” he finally said after studying me for a moment.

“She’s sleeping and doesn’t want to be disturbed. I’ll let her know you stopped by.”

He spun and stalked toward the door.
