I gritted my teeth and tried to think of something else, but I was too far gone. My body had awakened for him and there was no stopping what he was creating within me. My orgasm rolled over me like a wave and I couldn’t hold back my scream of release.

“That’s it. Come on me,” he growled behind me. He removed his fingers from my pussy, but kept rubbing my clit as I slowly came down from the high.

My breath shuddered out and I tried to form some kind of coherent thought.

Nico stepped back slightly and gripped my hips, flipping me over on the desk as though I weighed nothing. His eyes flashed as he raked them down over my body. I was mostly still clothed and something about that was sexy as hell. He grabbed my sweatshirt and started to drag it and my t-shirt up when a knock sounded at the door. He groaned and closed his eyes.

I couldn’t take mine off him. He was so gorgeous he made my core pulse as I watched him try and pull himself together. When his dark eyes opened and met mine he lifted his hand to his lips and sucked on his fingers. It wasn’t until he removed them and flashed me a grin that I realized it was the hand he’d been fucking me with. Everything in me tightened and I wasn’t sure I’d ever been so turned on.

At the door he paused and raised a brow at me. I scrambled off the desk and tugged my jeans up, face flaming. I examined the room for any exit points. I heard Nico and Luca talking, but ignored them as I debated on whether I could get out the window before he came after me.Probably not. He’d already proved he’d chase me down anyway. I’d have to wait for some other opportunity to escape.

Despite the fact that my body was still singing from the orgasm he gave me, I wanted out of here. Nico was making me feel shit I shouldn’t. Now that my body was sated, I wanted to sit down and cry. Tony’s face flashed through my mind and shame coursed through me.

I couldn’t do this. For months I wished for that numb feeling to go away. Well, it was gone and now I just wanted it back. Anything to bank the raging emotion that flooded through me like water through a broken dam.

“I’ll deal with it. Put her back,” Nico told Luca. He didn’t bother to look my way before he left.

“How do you expect me to keep her there?” Luca called out to his retreating back. He grumbled under his breath when his boss ignored him and then set his sights on me. “Alright, you heard him. Let’s go.”

I let Luca drag me back up to Nico’s bedroom. I didn’t protest as he shoved me inside. He barked orders at my guard and I listened as their voices filtered through the wooden barricade.

Guilt and misery were riding me hard, so I went over and laid down on the bed. I don’t know how long I slept, but the door opening woke me and I watched as Luca set a plate of food down on the bedside table.

“Eat,” he said before leaving.

The sound of the door locking behind him echoed through my mind. Sighing, I rolled over and fell back asleep.

Chapter 21

Dante

“Romano,” the chief said in surprise as he looked up from his desk to find me standing in his doorway. “Isn’t it your day off?” He eyed my civilian clothes.

“Yeah, Chief. I need your help.”

His brows went up and he steepled his fingers together in front of him on the desk. “What can I do you for?” he asked jovially.

I inhaled deep and blurted out my request. “I want to arrest my brother.”

Surprise flashed in his eyes and then was replaced by wariness. “Nico Romano…that brother?” he asked carefully.

As if I had any other brothers. “Yes.”

“No.”

My jaw dropped. “Sir-”

“Dante,” Chief’s voice was low and serious, “your brother has connections in very high places.”

I closed my mouth and clenched my teeth. “Sir, you haven’t let me tell you what he-”

“I don’t care. We’re not going after your brother. It would be pointless. It doesn’t matter what he’s done, no prosecutor will take him on. Not to mention that if you make the arrest they’ll throw the case without even looking at it. Family ties and all. I’m not wasting manpower on this.”

Frustration filled me. I knew before I came here that no one would touch my family, but I hoped I was wrong. My chief was a good man, he just had his hands tied by people higher up the ladder than him. I just didn’t know what else to do. “Thank you for seeing me,” I told him and turned to go.

“Dante,” he called.

I glanced over my shoulder and met his stern gaze.
