I nodded.

She then pointed a finger at me, then to Adam. “You two play nice.”

I met Adam’s eyes, and he smirked. “We will, Sky. Promise.” I kicked his leg. He was far too obvious. Thankfully, Skylar was too drunk to notice.

“Okay, well, tell Webber I’ve left. Though I think the toilet will have his undivided attention for some time.” With that, she left through the garden gate.

Then we were alone.

Adam slid over to sit beside me. “God, that was excruciating.” He leaned in, his nose nuzzling the side of my neck. “I’ve been wanting to touch you all night.”

He softly kissed the skin beneath my ear, and I shivered. I couldn’t help it. I was past trying to hide what this man did to me.

“You’re telling me,” I murmured, turning my face to meet his lips. He cupped my face with his hands and kissed me long and slow. His tongue snaking lazily into my mouth.

“Come home with me,” he whispered, trailing his lips along the curve of my jaw, his fingers clutching my hip bones. “Please, Meg.” I loved it when he begged.

“Okay,” was all I could say. Words had left me. We needed to get out of there before I stripped off his clothes and had my way with him in the middle of Kyle’s back yard.

We lumbered to our feet, full of desperate, needy energy.

“You’re drunk; you can’t drive,” I reminded him.

“Damn it; I gave Lena a ride too. Maybe she’s sober.” Adam screwed his face up in frustration.

“No way can Lena drop us both off at your house. She’ll know something’s up. Remember, no one can know about this.” I indicated the space between us for emphasis.

Adam pulled me flush against him. I could feel his erection through his shorts. “Then I’m going to have to fuck you right here, Galloway,” he growled.

I was ten seconds away from letting him do just that. I had never lusted for someone so badly in my life. The feelings I had for him as a hormonal teenager were nothing compared to this wild, erratic, pulsating force that swirled around inside me.

Then I came to my senses. “You have to make sure Lena gets home safely, and then we can leave.”

Adam groaned but nodded. “Let’s go find my cock-blocking sister.”

We walked into Kyle’s house. Everyone seemed to have left, leaving behind empty beer cans and half-eaten plates of food. It looked like the aftermath of a college party.

Adam pulled me by the hand through the rooms, searching for Lena. I could hear Kyle retching in the hallway bathroom. Yuck. But I knew from experience to leave him alone. He wasn’t a nice sick person.

Then I spotted Adam’s sister in the living room. “There she is.”

Adam turned in the direction I pointed to, and he frowned. “God, he can never leave her alone. I’m surprised she hasn’t clawed his eyes out yet.”

Lena sat on the couch with Jeremy Wyatt, and to me, there seemed to be no danger of eye clawing. They weren’t touching, but even I could see that they wanted to be. They spoke softly, leaning into each other. Lena smiled, tucking a piece of errant hair behind her ear. From what I knew of Jeremy, he was a cocky bastard. I didn’t see anything cocky in his expression. The look he gave the younger Ducate was almost tender. And from the expression on Adam’s face, I knew that wasn’t a good thing.

“Hey guys,” I called out. Lena’s head shot up, and she instantly moved two feet away from Jeremy.

“Uh, hey,” she said, smoothing her hair back away from her face. Jeremy’s eyes were unnaturally bright, but I doubted it was from alcohol.

“I’m ready to head out. I’ve called for a cab,” Adam said.

“Oh, okay,” Lena glanced at Jeremy, who couldn’t seem to take his eyes off her.

“You know, I can make sure Lena gets home,” Jeremy suggested. Did Adam hear the hitch in his voice?

“There’s no need. Uber will be here in a few minutes.” Adam’s eyes kept darting to me. His attention wasn’t on them thankfully. Even though I was half-drunk on wanting him, it was pretty obvious to me that Lena and Jeremy wanted to spend time together.

“You look tired, big bro. Why don’t you make sure Meg gets home okay? I only live a block away, and Jeremy is two streets over. He’ll make sure I get home. Won’t you?” Lena looked at Jeremy with raised eyebrows.

Jeremy nodded. “Yeah, seriously. I’ve got this.”

Adam looked at the two with doubt. “You hate each other. Lena, you can’t kill him and dispose of the body by yourself.”

Lena giggled nervously. “I won’t commit murder. And if I do, I know a good attorney.”

Jeremy held up his hands placatingly. “I’ll keep my hands to myself. I’ll be a perfect gentleman.”
