Cuba is gone when I look back up. I look around confused, searching for him.
“He’s in interviews, he’ll be back.” Sam leans over to tell me. Pride shines in his eyes. “He did it, thanks to you.”
I hold a hand to my chest. “I didn’t do anything but be there. This is all him.”
Sam blinks back, his gaze over my shoulder.
“I think you have it wrong.”
Jumping, I turn in my seat to see my boyfriend standing there, looking sexy with his new hat and a smirk on his lips.
A woman with long brown hair carries a mic and there is a cameraman behind her. She gives me a once over and forces a smile but doesn’t say anything.
“What do you mean?” I look back to Cuba, trying to figure why there is a camera focused on me when he’s the one who was drafted.
“You say it was all me when I’m here because of you. I wouldn’t have stood on that stage if you didn’t give me back hope.” I watch as he slowly drops to one knee.
Oh. My. God. This is not happening right now.
He takes me left hand and kisses it. “Bliss Star McQueen, I loved you before I even knew I could love anyone. Thank you for never giving up on me, for giving me another chance to be your Alexander.” He slides a red velvet box from his suit pocket. “I just want to love you forever, Arrow. Will you marry me?”
He opens the box and the perfect ring sit there. It’s a simple rose gold band with a solitary princess cut diamond.
My mouth is moving but no words are coming out, but I can’t get myself together.
“Oh my God, are you serious?” Tears prick at my eyes and I hold my right hand to my lips.
Cuba nods, his smile growing. “Yes, baby.”
Shakily, I nod my head quickly. “Yes, I’ll marry you. Oh my God, yes.”
He slips the ring onto my finger and I can barely hear the cheers in the background because I’m only focused on him, my fiancé. Once he’s standing, I throw myself on him and he leans down to kiss me gently.
“I love you, Arrow,” he whispers across my lips.
“I love you too, Bow.”
I melt into him, not caring who is watching. A year ago, I called him an asshole, now, he’s my life. Cuba says I saved him, and maybe I did, but he taught me what real love is, that unattainable crazy love.
I made him breathe again, and he made my heart skip a beat. And I wanted it to skip forever.
