Sweet.

And mine.

“Okay, we are here,” the guide said as he pulled the boat to a stop.

Here felt like it was the center of the world.

Things moved quickly from that point on. We were moved to the back of the boat and onto a platform where we were fitted with the gear to parasail.

Then the boat was moving, and Allison was at my side, repeating, “I can’t believe I’m doing this. I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

“Just breathe. I promise you’re going to love it.”

The wind caught the sail and lifted us, pulling us high in the sky. She screamed, and I reached out for her hand, but then she squealed with happiness and laughter, and I couldn’t help myself. I laughed with her.

“Oh my God, this is amazing!” she called out.

The world moved away from us, and when we looked out at the horizon, we couldn’t tell where the ocean ended and the sky began. In the clear water, you could see where the shallow water got deeper, where the fish and sea life roamed, and where the large reefs split the ocean floor.

It was beautiful, but instead of looking at the sights around me, I couldn’t take my eyes off Allison. She threw her head back, enjoying the feeling of flying as the boat pulled us farther away from the shore.

She held the reins and let her legs move back and forth as if she were swinging on a swing set and not hooked to a sail soaring through the air.

“Are you loving this?” I asked.

She looked my way, her eyes full of excitement and the largest smile I had ever seen on her face.

“This is perfect. Everything is perfect.”

And it was.

I could hardly believe it, but she was right. We were perfect together. It was hard to believe just a couple of days ago, I was feeling pressure to marry Allison. Because if I were given the choice today, I would marry her every day for the rest of my life.

Once we returned to shore, we held hands as we walked to dinner. Allison held her flip-flops in her other hand, letting the sand squish between her toes. Her hair was still up, and she had two colorful, exotic flowers tucked behind her ear. She had gotten a bit of sun, and her skin was glowing under the tiki lights and candles that illuminated the way to the restaurant.

Instead of sitting across from me at the restaurant, she sat next to me in the booth, her side pressed to mine as though she couldn’t get close enough. She smelled like the ocean and had tiny grains of sand in her hair. Leaning over, I kissed her shoulder just below where her bikini tied around her neck, and she reached her hand back and touched my cheek as though we had loved each other for years.

We hadn’t.

Technically, we hadn’t shown this much affection toward each other in all of our semi-relationship.

We shared our food, feeding each other and laughing. And instead of expensive wine, she insisted we drink Hinano, a local beer, and enjoy the culture. It was perfect, and I came to one conclusion at that moment … I loved being married. If I wasn’t careful, I was going to fall in love with Allison before we even left Bora Bora.

Once we got back to our bungalow, we showered together again, something I hoped we continued after we returned home. We were both too exhausted for sex, but we washed each other. I soaped up her hair and massaged her scalp, getting bits of sand and the smell of the ocean out. She purred like a kitten, prompting me to kiss her shoulder sweetly.

This woman.

She was winning me over like no other woman ever could.

After our shower, we climbed into bed and snuggled.

“Today was amazing. Thank you,” she said, nudging the side of my neck with her chin.

She laid with her arm and leg draped across my body. I was never one to sleep close to another person. Mostly, the women would leave after the sex but lying with Allison was more than just sex.

It was comfortable.

“Thank you,” I replied. “It wouldn’t have been as fun if you weren’t with me.”
