“What are you doing here?” he asked as if he owned the place, and I was unwelcome.

I tossed a shirt onto the pile of things I wanted to take out and turned away. “I’m just getting my things.”

He clicked his tongue ring, and the sound irked my nerves. “Does your mom know you’re here?”

“No, but I’m not staying, and I’m not taking anything that doesn’t belong to me. I just want to get my stuff and go.”

He sighed, moved into the room, and slowly closed the door behind him. His eyes were glued to me the entire time. As soon as the door clicked into place, panic rose in my chest. Getting caught alone with him was the last thing in the world I wanted.

His eyes trailed down my body, and his lips twitched with a grin.

“You’re looking good. Whatever you’re doing is working.”

I wasn’t doing anything, and nothing had changed except for the fact that I had lost some weight over the last few weeks. I was the same girl I was when I left, other than the fact that I was wearing Zada’s clothes since I had run out of clean laundry.

I crossed my arms over my chest when his eyes lingered on my breasts. Screw the rest of my stuff, I just wanted to take what I had packed up, including Dad’s urn, and I wanted to get out of there.

“Okay, well, I’m all done. I’ll just take this stuff and get going,” I said, moving across the room and gathering the few things I set to the side.

I was trying to stay as calm as possible, but when I moved toward the door, he stepped into my path and blocked my way out. My heart rate sped up, and anxiety began to scratch at my chest.

“Please let me pass,” I requested as sweetly as possible.

His smirk spread. “If you want to pass, you have to pay a fee.”

Rolling my eyes, I sighed as if I was annoyed. I was, but I was more afraid than irritated. “Seriously, Will. I need to get going.”

Again, I moved to go around him, and again, he stepped into my path.

“Then I guess you better pay up.”

“What do you want?” I asked, knowing as soon as the question left my lips, I didn’t want to hear his answer.

His smirk grew into a full smile. “How about a kiss?”

“I’m not kissing you.”

I moved to go around him, and he followed my steps.

“Fine, no kiss. Guess I’ll settle for a blow job.”

My shoulders went tense, and my panic was beginning to make the top of my head tingle. When that happened, a panic attack was inevitable.

“Stop it, Will. Just move and let me get out of here.”

“Suck my cock, and I’ll think about it.”

He stepped toward me, and I backed away, a few of the items in my arms fell out of my grasp and dropped to the floor. As long as it wasn’t my Dad’s urn, I didn’t care.

“This is stupid,” I said, darting to go around him.

He wasn’t fast enough, and I made it around him. My fingers wrapped around the doorknob, but before I could pull the door open, he grabbed a handful of hair on the back of my head and yanked me back.

Losing my balance, I fell to the floor, dropping everything in my arms. Dad’s urn rolled away from me, disappearing under my old bed.

“I’m sick of uppity bitches who think they’re too good. Newsflash, Everly, you ain’t shit. Just another pussy waiting to get fucked,” he barked down at me.

It was then I looked him in the eyes and noticed how bloodshot they were. He was either drunk or high on something, and since I didn’t smell alcohol, I assumed it was drugs.
