“Faster, Aiken. Make me come, please.”

He quickened, humping me deep and fast while resting his elbows on the bed at the sides of my head. He threw his head back, and his mouth fell open as he pounded into me hard enough to make me hurt so good.

“Yes. Like that. God, yes,” I purred, becoming delirious with pleasure.

My orgasm began to blossom, and my toes curled.

He growled. “Yeah, baby. Come for me. Fucking come so hard. I want to feel it.”

He pushed me over the edge. I arched my neck and my back lifted from the bed. My pussy clenched, and I dug my nails into his ass so he wouldn’t stop.

“Ah, God. Aiken!” I screamed out.

My body went tense, vibrating with my orgasm as I came long and hard. He fucked me through my orgasm, cursing above me as I shuddered and cried out.

He threw his head back, his neck muscles popping through this golden skin, and he filled me. His cock throbbed as his cum pumped into me.

“Everly!” he shouted, stilling as his entire body went tense with his orgasm.

His body went limp, and he rested on top of me. Our breaths filled the silence. His heart was pounding so hard and fast. I could feel it against my breasts.

With his face buried in my neck, he kissed me there.

“Holy shit, that was good,” he mumbled against my flesh.

I nodded, my hair sliding across the mattress. I couldn’t speak. My words were stuck in my throat with the happy tears I refused to release.

When I didn’t speak, he leaned back and looked down at me.

Looking up at him, all I could think was how much I was in love with him. I had given myself to him completely. Not just my body, but all of me. There was no more falling—I fell, and there was no going back.

“Don’t,” he whispered, tucking my hair behind my ear.

“Don’t what?” I asked, worried that I might have spoken my feelings out loud.

“Don’t love me. I’m not a thing anyone should love.”

I gasped.

Maybe I had spoken aloud.

“What makes you think I love you?” I asked, my voice trembling.

“I can see it in your eyes. No one’s ever looked at me the way you do. It took me a while to figure out what it was, but now I know. I can see your feelings on your face. And again, I’m not something worth loving.”

“First of all, you’re not a thing. You’re a person with a heart.”

“Are you sure about that?” He smirked.

I hissed when he pulled from my body. He lay back on his pillow and pulled me into his arms.

“I’ve never been surer about anything in my life. You’re not the man everyone thinks you are. You’re not Skull. You’re Aiken—the guy who made sure I got home safely and had plenty to eat—the guy who held my hand across the country. And tomorrow, when I watch my father’s ashes float away in the breeze, I know you’ll be there holding me up.”

His gaze scanned my face, and a look of resolve moved over his expression.

“I’ll always be there,” he promised.

I kissed him once more before I settled my head on his shoulder. He slid his fingers up and down my spine until my eyes began to close and sleep pulled me away. Just before I was out, he pressed a single kiss on the top of my head and whispered words I never thought he would say.
