“Come on, man, leave her alone,” the Border Lord finally spoke up.

My grin dropped, and I turned my eyes on him. He stiffened, feeling the predator in me step forward. He was just a kid, and I wanted to take it easy on him, but he needed to learn if he wanted to be a part of this world, and he needed to learn quickly.

“Remy, right?” I asked, ready to pounce.

He nodded.

“And a baby Border Lord.”

“I’m no baby.” He crossed his arms, a look of determination on his young face.

I snorted. “You’re stupid. Border Lords aren’t welcome here, yet here you are with no fucking backup.”

He visibly swallowed and looked around, noticing none of his people were there. His face paled before he dropped his arms and took a step back. “I wasn’t thinking.”

“No. You weren’t. Leave.”

He nodded and turned to Gracie. “Can I call you?”

I reached out and grabbed his shoulder. “No. You certainly fucking can not. I’m counting to ten. If you’re still here when I reach ten, there will be a problem.”

He didn’t respond. Instead, he grimaced toward Gracie, shrugged, and turned to walk toward his bike. It was new, with fresh paint and perfect tread on the tires. The boy had never broken his ride in. He was there to look cool and nothing more.

Leaving Gracie with me, he got on his bike and hauled ass away from The Strip.

“Wow,” Gracie said, her arms crossed over her chest.

She reminded me so much of Tori, a big firecracker in a small container.

“So now you’re my father?”

I paused. Her words struck me so hard that I had to blink away the rage that swelled inside me. I would never be that motherfucker. Never. I opened my mouth to speak, but before any words left my mouth, Tori was there.

“We’re leaving, Gracie,” she said, grabbing her sister’s wrist and pulling her toward Sadie’s car.

She looked back at me with an apology in her eyes, and I nodded, understanding her baby sister came first. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I watched as they drove away, let down that I wouldn’t get my night with Tori before I returned to my boys.

“What was that about?” Crow asked.

I shook my head. “Her little sister was here fucking around with a baby Border Lord.”

He sucked his teeth and tilted his head. “Not smart, little sister.”

“Definitely not.” I took a swig from my bottle, figuring I might as well get trashed since I was spending the night alone.

“You still haven’t talked to Joker about her, have you?”

I turned toward him, grabbing the blunt when he passed it to me and taking a hit. “I want to, but she doesn’t want me to tell him.”

He lifted a brow, confused. “Why not? She scared or some shit?”

I chuckled and shook my head. “Nah. She thinks it’s hot sneaking around.”

Crow snickered, a sound we didn’t hear often. “She’s not wrong.”

Then he took the blunt from my fingers and walked away, leaving me standing there with a grin.
