Yeah, got it. Be there soon.

Sliding my phone in my pocket, I make sure the front door is locked before jogging to my car. I’m not usually worried about someone breaking into my home but can’t risk anyone stumbling on my sweet little captive while I’m away.

I can’t stop the smile spreading across my face as I think of her again and imagine all the things I’m going to do to her when I get home.

Just wait, little bird. You’ll really see what it means to be mine soon.

“As you can see, we have planned for any possible contingencies. The market can be rather unpredictable and right now is the perfect time to break ground on a new renovation.” I keep my irritated groan inside as Rick continues with his spiel. He really is such a kissass and it grates at my nerves. It is, however, also why I keep him on as my top sales employee.

If you ask me, reputation should be enough and potential clients should come to us. Recent years have seen a shift in the market, though, that has required more and more of these menial sales pitches to obtain new contracts.

When I started my construction business years ago, it was just me and a few buddies working on bids by word of mouth. We did a really good fucking job, so we quickly outgrew just the few of us and I started expanding the business. Now I own one of the most successful construction businesses in the Santa Fe area. The fact that we still have to have these meetings makes my teeth grind, even as I keep a neutral expression on my face and periodically nod encouragement.

Rick gestures to the folders in front of the handful of men and women in the room. “Inside the packets we have prepared are quotes lining out the estimated costs of material, labor, and time. As well as some examples of recent projects we have completed so you are able to get a visual idea of how we are able to accommodate various designs.” He smiles widely and clasps his hands together, signaling the end of his pitch.

I clear my throat and all eyes turn to me. “Thank you Rick.” He inclines his head to me before taking a seat. I look around and make sure to meet every person in the eye before continuing. “I have been the owner of Mickstruction since day one and built my company from the ground up with my bare hands. I take great pride in providing quality results and not fucking with your time or money.” A few chuckles sound, I smirk.

It’s important to emphasize we won’t just run away with their money. The industry has left a bad taste in many people’s mouths due to contractors neglecting their work. “With all that being said, I won’t bend over or beg for your business.” Rick’s eyes widen and he lets out a nervous laugh. Ignoring him, I press on, not in the mood to deal with this bullshit. “You’ll see the good work we do in those packets and if you ask anyone who has previously hired us, they are all more than pleased.” I stand up and tuck my hands into my pockets. “I look forward to hearing from you.” I nod my head and, without looking around the room again, I leave.

Heading out, I greet Rachel, the company receptionist. She tucks a lock of hair behind her ear and glances down quickly. Laughing softly, I press the button for the elevator and climb inside. Rachel looks up and sends an awkward wave and calls out, “Have a good night, Mr. Pullson.” I nod at her as the elevator doors close.

The elevator dings open to the parking lot and I stride toward my car, my thoughts again drifting to the woman in my bed. Whistling, I slide into my car and pull out onto the street. My dashboard lights up with an incoming call and I let out a heavy sigh before clicking to answer. “What do you want Veronica?”

She huffs before answering. “Really Mick? That’s what you have to say to me after fucking me, running out, and then ghosting me for weeks?”

I forgot how whiny her voice is. What did I ever find desirable about this woman?

The sound of Paige saying my name fills my head and I shift in my seat. I debate hanging up but decide I might as well get this conversation over with and, hopefully, put a stop to the incessant texts. “What do you want Veronica? I’m kind of busy.”

“I want you, Mick.” She whines. “I miss you. I’m really sorry for those things I said, I don’t care if you leave right after. I just need you.”

Taking a deep breath to resist snapping at her, I slowly let it out before replying. “In case my silence wasn’t enough of a hint.”Which apparently it wasn’t.“I’m done Veronica. We had our fun and now it’s over. Time to move on.” I hear her sniffling on the other end of the line and roll my eyes. It was a mistake to ever get involved with this woman. I usually just stuck to one-night stands but had found her to be a decent enough fuck. I also enjoyed the convenience of having her just a text away and the no-strings situationship we were in. At least I had thought that’s what it was.

She sniffles again. “What did I do wrong?” She sounds so pathetic I can’t help but sigh.

“Nothing. It’s just over.”

“But-“

“No buts. We’re done. I won’t repeat myself again.” I end the call before she can say anything else. I can feel the anger burning underneath my skin. The release from Adam and Leslie had staved off the itch but between the bullshit of that meeting, Veronica, and not being able to fully claim my woman, I can feel the need for blood growing again.

I glance at the clock and note it’s just about 4pm. I have enough time to swing by my spot to restock the supplies I used before picking up food for myself and Paige. With a quick spin of the wheel, I turn and head off, pressing my foot on the gas to speed up.

The quicker I can get home, the quicker I can look into those mesmerizing amber eyes and release some of this tension.

Entering the front door, a frustrated cry reaches me. I quickly drop everything on the counter and fly to the bedroom, flinging open the door. Paige lies on the bed, yanking against the binds on her arms, letting out a growl as the rope rubs against her raw flesh. She does this several times before flinging her head back and releasing an angry scream.

I lean against the doorframe and let out a chuckle, my eyes raking over her. She’s kicked off most of the blanket, exposing her bare body. The shirt she still has on has ridden up so the underside of her breasts are also on display. I reach up and rub my jaw, licking my lips as I gaze at her.

Hearing me, she whips her head in my direction and fixes me with a heated glare. I stare right back at her, amusement barely contained. Still glaring at me, she purses her lips and spits in my direction. I watch as the saliva flies out and lands just past the bed, quirking an eyebrow. Unperturbed by the failed attempt, Paige shuffles her arms and flips me off with both hands. After a brief second of stunned silence, I burst out laughing.

Angered further, Paige lets out another angry shriek. “This isn’t funny asshole!” I laugh harder, earning me another glare. “Do you have any idea how terrible it is to be left strapped to a bed all day? Not to mention the shit you pulled last night.” My laughter dies off as memories of just that flash through my mind. Realizing her mistake, she quickly continues, but this time her angry shouts have slipped to an embarrassed whisper. “Or how awful it is to have to use the bathroom but you can’t move?” After a small pause, she mutters, barely loud enough for me to hear, “I’m lucky I haven’t soiled the bed.” Her cheeks flame and she averts her gaze back to the ceiling.

I’ve noticed this has become a habit for her and glance up to the ceiling as well, curious what she finds comfort in to keep returning her attention to the spot.

When she doesn’t continue, I push off the door and quietly make my way to the bed. Sitting down on the mattress, I gently push her hair back out of her face. She flinches away but keeps her gaze up, refusing to look my way. “Paige.” When she doesn’t react, the familiar anger burns again. Gripping her jaw, I force her face toward me but the stubborn woman keeps her eyes averted. “Look at me.” I growl, squeezing my fingers.

I wait until she finally shifts her gaze to meet mine. It takes me a moment before I can say anything else, getting lost in her eyes. I clear my throat, trying to regain a little composure. “I’m not sorry for tying you up.” She tries to say something but I squeeze my fingers again in warning and she quickly shuts her lips. Nodding my approval, I continue. “Nor am I sorry for giving you the best orgasms of your life.” Her eyes twinkle with rage but she can’t deny what I said was true and we both know it. My tone softens, “I am sorry. Truly sorry, for not realizing you would need to relieve yourself. I won’t make that mistake again. I promise.”
