Yes sir.

I groan. Who knew two words could elicit such a feral reaction? I sure as shit didn’t.

I thought it was hard keeping my hands to myself before but the moment Avamarie told me we had a countdown, allmy mind could think about was claiming her pussy again. Now that I’ve come to accept my new reality that centers around the intoxicating girl, I’ve only found my ability to restrain myself all that much harder.

Adjusting my now hard dick, I set the phone down and focus on my computer again. I’ve had one job since Colon, a solo one thankfully. My jaw grinds as I read the message from Andrew.

Another team hit. At least you’re familiar with your partner in crime.

Fuck, please don’t be Arriana. Literally anyone else.

This job will be more difficult, a high profile hit. Charles wants us to send our best out, that means you and Arriana.

God fucking dammit.

I close the message and push from my chair, scrubbing a hand over my jaw.

The woman is effective, I’ll give her that. But she’s psychotic and I’d like to stay as far away from her as possible.

My mind flashes back to the night of our last joint hit.

After Arriana showered and changed, she skips through my condo, ignoring the daggers my little girl sends her way. “Oh this place is justlovely.” She crows, exploring the space as she speaks. “You know, I’m in the market for a new place. How much does this thing run ya?”

Pushing down the impatience to get her the fuck out, I grumble, “Enough.” Keeping an eye on my red-headedfirecracker to make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid, like attack the crazy hitwoman, I hope the clipped answer is enough for Arriana to get the hint.

It is not. Of course it isn’t.

Chuckling, she spins around. “So cryptic, grandpa.” She giggles at the use of the nickname she knows I loathe. “Guess I’ll just have to find out for myself then.” She turns her attention to Avamarie.

I tense, ready to spring into action any moment if either woman acts on the gleaming in their eyes as they stare each other down.

“You know,” Arriana purrs, stepping closer. “I quite like you. If only you didn’t have such bad taste in men.”

Avamarie growls, her hands clenched in tiny fists.

Laughing, Arriana shakes her head. “Never the matter. You’re still cool. Plus you’ve got a fire in ya.” Turning her attention back to me, she gestures toward Avamarie. “She’d be fantastic in our line of work, you know.”

I narrow my eyes at her.

Avamarie glances between the two of us, confusion masking the hate she previously had plastered on her face. “You two work together?” She questions, cocking her head to the side.

Grumbling, I turn toward my girl. “Yes.” I bite out, throwing a glare at the woman in question. There’s a reason I have kept this part of my life secret and she’s threatening to crumble everything apart. “You need to leave. Now.” I snap at Arriana.

Throwing up her hands, she backs toward the door, eyes glinting with barely suppressed laughter. “Alright, old man. Didn’t mean to cause a quarrel amidst your cozy little home. Just thought you should know.” Spinning on her heels, she darts to the elevator and pushes the button, tapping her foot while she waits. Once the doors ding open, she clambers inside the lift, turning to call out, “See you soon neighbor!”

Thankfully that last statement seems to have been false. And Avamarie hasn’t brought up my work since. To be fair, I’ve kept her rather busy in the interim.

The reminder makes my cock twitch.

Fuck. I need her.

Striding from my office, I decide to shower before my little minx gets home.

Chapter 21

Avamarie

Deep breaths.
