My heart was pounding, my own eyes stinging as I looked at the man in front of me. He was breaking. “But then I wouldn’t have you,” I confessed.

His eyes narrowed for a brief second in confusion but I didn’t give him the chance to say whatever was coming out of his mouth before I crashed my lips to his. I wasn’t lying when I told them all that I knew when someone was attracted to me. Ialwaysknew when someone was attracted to me, I’d told Lance as much on the second day that I knew him. I’d known from the moment I’d met him that he liked what he saw, and waited three years to see if he would ever admit his feelings or if he was staying hidden in the closet. When we’d both been with Elle, Lance had gotten off watching me with her. He’d fucked Elle watching me and I’d been crazy with need not just for her but for him. Elle wasn’t the only one who’d been in love with more than one person for three years.

This could have gone one of two ways and I was half expecting him to pull away and hit me. But after a brief hesitation, his lips parted and I had my in. I swiped my tongue into his mouth and groaned at the taste of Lance Preston on my tongue. His lips moved tentatively over mine as he gained his confidence and slipped his hands from my shirt to cup my jaw. Lance liked to be in control, but so did I and I was torn betweenwanting to take all I could from him and trying not to scare him away from this perfect moment.

My hands skimmed his ribs, down to the hem of his shirt and my fingertips ventured underneath to run over the warmth of his skin. “Fuck, Hayden…” he breathed, breaking away from our kiss with a heaving chest.

“Shh,” my lips chased his. “No thinking, just kiss me.”

We came together again, kissing with all the passion of three years’ worth of pent-up longing. My heart was going a mile a minute and speeding up with every pleasured grunt Lance gave me. The dam broke, I went from being awed by the fact that Lance was kissing me to needing so much more. I walked forward, forcing him back until we both disappeared down a small footpath that led out to the main road. We were shrouded in darkness as the remaining light from the setting sun was blocked by high hedge rows on either side. I backed Lance up until his back hit a fence and his hands fisted in my hair keeping our kiss. It was only when I popped the button of his slacks that he broke away and looked down to watch me lower his zip.

“Hayden, I…” whatever protest he was about to give died when I slid my hand into his boxers and wrapped my fingers around his semi-hard cock; his eyes rolled back in his head and a guttural moan left his lips.

I was touching Lance. I wastouchingLance. I was touchingLance. Fuck, I’d wanted this for so long. His shaft thickened and lengthened under my touch and my own jeans became uncomfortably tight as I grew with need. Lance seemed to notice, probably because I’d been dry humping his hip like a horny teenager. He trailed his fingers down my abdomen but grew unsure as he reached my jeans and stopped his decent. I tore away from him, panting.

“Lance, please.”

Keeping his eyes locked on mine, he reached down to cup me through the denim. I hissed through my teeth and ground my hips against his hand. Lance was now hard as stone, the heated head of his cock dripping pre-cum. I wanted to jack him off and have him explode into my palm, I wanted to watch his face as he came and revel in the fact that I was the one to get him there, but Ibecame all too aware that we had gotten off track from our conversation.

I kissed over his jaw and down his neck, darting my tongue against his skin to feel the delicious roughness of his five o’clock shadow. “Why didn’t you talk to me first?” I murmured against his skin.

“Wh…what?” Lance was still distracted by my fist around his cock.

I removed my hand from his pants, his eyes bursting open to stare at me, incredulous. I held his face in my hand, trying to calm my lust and focus us both on the matter at hand. “Before you spoke to Elle. Why didn’t you come to me? Tell me what you were feeling? There had to be another way, Lance.”

He tipped his head forward to lay on my shoulder and I stroked up and down his arms, hopefully encouraging him to talk to me. “There isn’t,” he sounded so dejected. “I thought I could make it work, I wanted to ask her to come to the city with me. I was going to ask you again too.” His hands roamed up my torso. “But being close to me puts a target on anyone’s back. I could put security on her, on both of you, but it’s no way to live, trust me.”

“Lance, we could have…”

“No, Hayden,” his voice became firm. He stood straight, turning us both until it was my back against the fence and Lance leant against me, his body plastered to mine from stomach to knees. “I told you, I don’t get a happy ending. We graduate in two days and after that, we will all go our separate ways. All of this, La Salle, university, it was only ever meant to be a break. It’s over now and I get to go back to being Lance Preston of The Daos. Now, drop the subject and for fuck’s sake. Make. Me. Come.” He growled the last part before attacking my lips with his, cutting off any further arguments I had.

I placed my hand back under the waistband of his boxers, pushing his underwear down so his cock was out and stroked him firmly, picking up speed to make quick work of following his order. Lance came hard, grunting into my mouth and jerking his hips. His breathing was stuttered and his gaze heavy lidded.

“You chose for Elle.” I tucked him away, retracted my hand, and I licked my palm clean of him. “I don’t agree with it, I stillthink there was a better way,” I rasped in his ear. “But you don’t get to choose for me, Lance.”

His brow furrowed as he leant back to look at me in question.

“I’m not letting you just walk away and pretend that this ‘break’ never happened. That Elle and I never happened.” I continued, my resolve becoming stronger as I spoke. “I’m coming with you. I’ve just got you after three years of wanting you, I’m not leaving it here.”

He looked at me, shocked and confused. “I…I don’t want you to get tied into the life, Hayden. I don’t want you to get hurt.”

I smiled against him. “I’m a big boy, I can take care of myself. And I’ll tie myself into any life that has you in it.”

“Hayden…”

“You think you have to be alone, Lance. But you don’t and Iwillshow you that. I’m coming with you, and I’ll be in your life in whatever capacity you’ll have me.”

He swallowed hard. “Maybe…maybe I was a little too hasty with Elle.”

“Give her some space. I’ll talk to her later.” I placed a fleeting kiss on his lips and couldn’t help beaming when he held on to my waist, keeping me close and deepening the connection.

When he looked back in the direction we’d come, he looked broken once more. “I don’t think I should go back just yet.”

I checked my watch. “Walk me to work, have a drink, and come back later. I’ll text her on the way and I’ll see her when I get in. We’ll sort this out.”

He kissed me again and righted his slacks. It was getting cold out and both of us were in short sleeves, but we walked into town like that anyway. Once we were out the other end of the foot path, we didn’t touch again. Anyone who saw us walking together would have no clue that I’d just made him come.

As we walked in unawkward silence I took out my phone and brought up my chat with Elle.
