As I feed the crew, including my girl, I realize I haven’t felt so at home in a long time.

“You fancy going to Dexter’s?” Lucas asks.

“It’s barely noon,” Avery counters.

“It’s Friday, and basically the weekend.” Nova shrugs. “I’m in.”

“I should be in lectures,” Mia murmurs. “They dragged me here against my will.”

“I’ll write your assignment,” Nova offers.

Mia snorts. “You’ll fail… I guess I could just have one drink and then head home to write.”

“I’m not letting you out of my sight,” I tell her. My voice hard.

“That’s going to be difficult when I do head home.” Her tone matching mine.

“I–“

“Get some water on those flames, my man!” Kit tells me.

Mia smirks, believing she’s won.

I’ll win when she’s moaning my name.

“I need to change if I’m going out.” Avery is already on her way to the door.

“I’m doing the same thing,” Mia announces.

Is shetryingto piss me off? I step over to her, blocking her path. "You don't leave Sawyer's side, you hear?" I take her chin, forcing her eyes to meet mine. Sunshine flashes within the green, and I feel the heat. I want to tastethatheat, but I wouldn’t put it past her to punch me again. She pulls her bottom lip between her teeth.

Fucking hell. I’m a dead man.

"You don't own me, Austin."

I chuckle. "I’ll be owning every single sweet inch of you soon, and you’re going to beg me for more.”

CHAPTER TEN ¦ SECRETS

?

Mia

Someone had made the decision to invite the boys to our apartment. I blame Avery. Lucas' eyes?love hearts firing from within them?had been fixed on Avery all night. I want to warn him, but it might also be worth the watch. At least two of the crew will be crashing and burning. Zac had been at the bar, so that may be the reason for Austin's quiet mood. He hasn't said anything about it, and he hadn't reacted at the time, but the tension in the room had been sharper than Gordon Ramsey's knife collection, and he is still carrying that heaviness in his shoulders.

I listen to the others chatting happily but I’m very aware that Austin isn’t his usual charmingly annoying self. It bothers me. We enter the apartment, and I'm instantly unsure of what to say or do, and this ismyplace. I should feel at home, but the worms wriggling in my belly aren't helping matters. How had he managed to make me feel something other than anger? I can’t pinpoint when I actually started to enjoy his presence. But it’s happened.

"I'll sleep on the couch," Avery suddenly announces.

I glare at her. She has to be kidding, right? “I’llsleep on the couch,” I tell her. “Austin can sleep wherever he wants.”

Our place is ten times smaller than theirs, why would we want all the men back here? I mean, why do they need to follow us everywhere? It’s like they’ve always been in our lives. We’d lived, survived, just fine before them. Although, I don’t want to be at his place, either. He has way too much power there.

Austin takes my hand and pulls me to my bedroom. I gawp, staring at our hands. “Austin! There’s no way!”

I can’t believe this is happening. I mean, it’s not, but I can’t believe he thinks he can even try! He closes the door behind us, my retort swallowed up in a gasp as he pushes me against the door. Who knew a specific height could be this perfect? I tip my head up slightly, appreciating the way his head dips down to mine, closing off the world so it’s just us. Despite my earlier objections, I want his mouth on mine. I want him to mark me as his.

The heat between us burns, making my clothes itch against my skin. His eyes follow the trail of his finger before dropping to my lips and staying there. Heat curls in my belly as he leans in, his toned frame pressing into mine. Jesus. I can feel his dick against me. I swallow and bite my lip.
