Three months later…

As it turned out,Callumhadfollowed him from Tulsa. In fact, the man had—and quite effectively—been stalking him for the better part of six months. True to form, Meredith had simply been upset that her most memorable date in three years had turned out to be a gay psychopath.

Then Ian had taken her out dancing, and all thoughts of “Callum-what’s-his-name” had been forgotten.

Typical.

August had filed charges and even requested a restraining order, but he doubted Callum would see much, if any, jail time. He didn’t worry about the man bothering him again, though, not since Micah had tracked him down, flashed his fangs, and scaredthe man out of his wits. Part of him felt sorry for Callum. A larger part of him was sorry he hadn’t been there to witness it.

“The place is looking good,” August commented as Micah drove them past the wrought-iron gates at the entrance to the farm.

Watching the sun set behind the house, he released the breath he’d been holding for what felt like weeks. He still had so many things to do in Tulsa, including getting his patients situated with other therapists, but he hadn’t been able to resist flying out to Indy for the full moon. Living in the city didn’t afford many opportunities to run, and he always had to be wary of someone seeing him. Damn, he missed the freedom of the private Hayden lands.

The pack had greeted Micah with enthusiasm and open arms when he’d finally taken his place as Alpha. Not surprisingly, no one had much to say about their Queen, who still slept peacefully in her bed under the watchful eyes of the pack medic and several Wardens.

“How many people are going to be here?”

“About forty or so members will be here tonight,” Micah answered. “Macy really wants to see you.”

“How is she?”

“Upset about what happened, of course. I’ve told her it wasn’t her fault, but she wants to make things right.” Reaching acrossthe console, he squeezed August’s hand as he pulled to a stop in front of the house. “Hey, how have your headaches been?”

“Actually, I’ve only had a migraine once since my birthday.”

Micah smiled. “I had a feeling that might be the case. They should go away completely once we’re together on a more permanent basis.” Cutting the engine, he turned in his seat and pulled August into a lingering kiss. “I hate this. I want you here now.”

“I know, but soon. Just a few more weeks while I wrap things up in Tulsa.”

“I know, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

“I brought you something,” August teased, hoping to distract Micah from his brooding. “Do you want to open it?”

“I’d rather get you out of those clothes and on your back.”

The bluntness of the statement waylaid August, stealing his breath and swelling his cock. “Or we could do that.”

Before he could even think to move, Micah dragged him across the console and out of the pickup. Then he tossed August over his shoulder and sprinted all the way to his bedroom.

Bouncing across the mattress when Micah dropped him, August rolled over to his back and laughed. “Well, I’m here. What are you going to do with me now?”

Becoming serious, Micah knelt beside the bed and palmed August’s cheek. “I’m going to love you,” he promised, his tone low and full of reverence. “I’m going to love you every day of forever.”
