“Of course, I wouldn’t let anyone stop me from doing so, no matter what.”

She smiles and closes the door behind her. Devouring the goodies she brought, I head to the bathroom that is closer to Astera’s room instead of using the one closer to Hayden. Less chance of running into him.

The hot water feels amazing on my skin, and when I step out to dry off, the door handle jiggles. “Claire, let me in.”

It’s Hayden, and I stay silent while drying my body off and then get dressed. Taking my sweet ass time, I brush my hair, then put it in an updo for the evening. When I pull the door open to leave, Hayden is leaning against the opposite wall.

“It’s Astera’s wedding day, I’m not going to stand here and fight with you.”

“At least let me apologize for the way I acted.”

“No.”

Not liking my answer, he grips my arm and pulls me back. “We are not leaving this spot until we talk this out. I don’t want to go through the day with you pissed at me, especially on a day like this.”

Yanking my arm out of his grip. “We will talk later when I am ready to.”

“Claire,” he calls out.

“Hayden.”

CHAPTER ELEVEN

CLAIRE

“Ready?”

Astera is about to walk to her groom. I hand her the bouquet.

“Ready,” she confirms, beaming.

“You look stunning. Griffin is going to flip.”

Carrying a smaller version of Astera’s bouquet, I link my arm with Hayden’s to walk down the aisle. H does look handsome in his black jeans, a black dress shirt, his MC cut over his shirt, and his biker boots. The top three buttons of his shirt are open, displaying his gold necklace. It’s the first time I have seen him this dressed up, but then again, weddings don’t happen every day around here.

We approach the white arch covered with red and black roses. Even with those dark colors, it looks magical and romantic. Griffin stands with his hands crossed in front of him. And he is also wearing a black dress shirt, black dress pants, and biker boots.

Hayden and I reach Griffin and go to our separate ends as we wait for Astera to walk to her groom.

Watching Astera walk down the aisle, she looks like a movie star from those old black- and-white movies. She is wearing her hair exactly how I said she should and has a huge silver rhinestone hair comb on one side. And the rest of her hair is hanging in loose waves.

As soon as Astera reaches Griffin, he has tears in his eyes, and it’s so romantic seeing them stand here about to take a vow of a lifetime with each other. Being a sap, it brings tears to my eyes as I listen to them say their vows to each other. Til death do they part.

When I look past Griffin’s shoulder, Hayden is staring right at me. He is not even paying attention to the bride and groom. I look away and continue to watch Griffin and Astera give their love to one another. The pastor bids them as man and wife, Griffin dips Astera and plants a long kiss on her lips. This is forever, and I can’t help but question my own forever. Will such a thing happen to me?

Griffin raises her back up, and hand in hand, they make their way back inside. Hayden and I follow behind, then the guests follow behind us. I separate myself from Hayden to take in the scenery around me.

The clubhouse has been completely transformed while the ceremony was happening. A long table takes residence in the living space, decorated with tea lights, roses of the black and red variety, fairy lights hang above, and there is even space for a decent size dance floor where there used to be a dining room table, complete with a DJ. Caterers rush around the kitchen, preparing to serve the meal once Astera and Griffin sit at the center of the table.

Astera and Griffin appear, taking their seats at the table. I follow suit by sitting next to her, and Hayden by Griffin.

I look at Astera as she glows with happiness. “Your ceremony was beautiful.”

“I can’t believe I am married,” she beams. “You’ll be next.”

I laugh. “Highly doubtful.”

“You never know.”
