Rowan cuts me off.“Don’t.Don’t blame yourself for what happened.I know you did what you could.”

I breathe a sigh of relief. It continues to weigh on my shoulders because I don’t know what she is going through.I can’t even imagine it.

The rest of the day passes, and we head back to the club with dinner in tow for the guys before they head out on their mission, and Becca doesn’t have to cook.

“Thanks, babe,” Griffin says kissing me before digging into a burger.“How’s the shop look now?”he asks.

“It looks a lot better.I can’t believe someone would do that.It took all day to clean up.”

“We will figure it out. Also, don’t go anywhere tonight, we are still trying to be careful with what’s going on.Don’t need anything to happen to you.”

“I will be waiting for you when you come back.”

Everyone continues eating.Cutter and Rowan are going on some sort of mission, I think it pertains to Dirt Machine. While the other guys stake out their compound.

“Killer is staying here with you for protection. And Hayden is here, of course,” Griffin adds.

I nod.

“We’re gonna have some guns at the bar in case you need them,” Cutter says.

“Okay.”

I am worried we won’t have enough protection here, but I trust the guys and what they are doing.

“I gotta go, babe.”Griffin plants a kiss on my lips.

I reach my arms around his shoulders to hug him.“Be careful,” I whisper.

“Always.”He flashes me that sexy wink of his.

When they all leave, I head to the bedroom to organize my clothing and try not to take up too much space. When I find several empty drawers in the dresser, I utilize those. After doing that and getting laundry started for the guys, I lay down on the bed to take a short nap.

“You are nothing but a whore,” Gram spewed.“And you will never amount to anything.”Mom could barely stand as she gave me a nasty look.“You are gonna end up just like your no-good mother.”

I refused to shed a single tear for my drunk grandmother. She continued to berate me, calling me a bitch, a whore, and anything else she could come up with. She hated me, and I hated her back.I hated her because she was a nasty drunk. She hated me because I looked like my mom, who took off when I was ten.I barely remembered her.Every day, I vowed I would never end up like my mother.I would prove my grandmother wrong.I would never be a whore for a motorcycle club.I would rather die.I wished for death every day.It would be better than living in this hell.

“Why do you treat me like this?”I couldn’t take it anymore.

“You spread your legs for that no-good boy. You’re gonna end up pregnant and alone.”

I stormed to my room and packed everything I could fit in a bag.“Where do you think you’re going?”

“I’m leaving.”

“If you leave this house, I will not allow you to come back when he breaks your heart.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t be back!”

Outside, I spot Logan walking up my walkway from the house he lived in across the street with his dad. When he was seventeen, Logan was running errands for the club.He worked his way in to earn their trust, and they accepted him as one of their own.

“Come on, you can stay with me,” Logan told me as he took my hand.

“Are you sure that is going to be okay with the club?”

“Yes, they just badged me in yesterday.I have a room at the club that we can use.”

“Oh, congrats.I know you worked hard to earn their trust.”
