“No. I'm not keeping my voice down, and I'm not keeping this a secret any longer.” To her utter shock, Enzo walked over to the window and wrenched up the sill. “I'm falling for Elena Thomas!” he yelled out the window like a complete lunatic, grinning back at her when she totally forgot her partial nudity and stood up to gape at him.

Remembering herself, she ducked behind Mr. McGinty's chair and yanked on her skirt, then marched over and grabbed Enzo's hand before she slammed the window closed. “Are you crazy?”

The wordsI'm falling for Elena Thomasreplayed in her head, making her heart beat so fast she actually felt dizzy. She swayed and he gripped her elbows, steadying her as he always did. He had a habit of shaking her off her foundation then somehow being the only person who knew how to put her back to rights again.

She sucked in a breath that burned her still-sore throat. “Are you really falling for me?” she whispered.

The light in his eyes changed from a spark to a flame. “I really am.”

Without a word, she linked her arms around his waist and pressed her face against his bare chest. Happiness glowed inside her, sure and bright.

“Does that mean what I hope it means?” he asked quietly, stroking her hair.

“Yes.” She dug her fingers into his back as she looked up at him. “I'm falling for you too.”

Then, with a shaky breath, she turned to look at her boss. He didn't look quite ready to throw confetti after the scene he'd just witnessed. But at least he also didn’t seem as if he’d happily ground them both to dust either. “I'll look for a new job. I know this isn't acceptable.”

“Bella—”

“Elena—”

She smiled up at Enzo, grateful he'd called her the name she'd come to crave hearing on his lips. “I know you discourage office relationships, and since you're not going to disown your nephew, I'll go.” Her smile deepened as Enzo caressed her mouth with his fingertip. “It's worth it.”

“You think I'm going to lose one of my best employees over that guy?” Mr. McGinty jerked a thumb at Enzo and shook his head. “No way.”

Elena glanced back at Mr. McGinty. Somehow she couldn't believe what she was hearing. True, the partners rarely enforced their unstated rule about office romances, but c'mon. He'd walked into his own office and seen her without her skirt.

Or her panties, she remembered uncomfortably, clasping her legs together. Once again her ass pulsed, an invigorating reminder of what had taken place on that very carpet.

A trickle of wetness slipped onto her thigh, and she closed her eyes. Now wasnotthe time to get turned on.

“Especially when I set you both up, because I wanted to see if I was right. I just didn’t expect to walk in on this.” He let out a blustery sigh. “I probably should have, but I didn’t.”

“Huh?” She and Enzo responded in unison.

“You said your lady had red hair. No one else here has hair even close to Elena's, though it’s a dark shade of red. I know she's been staying late a lot lately. When I gave her the key, I suspected she’d stick around to wait for you. And I damn well know how your mind works, son. Now I know with even more certainty.” He laughed uncomfortably, his cheeks pinkening. “Obviously you've found the perfect woman for you.”

“Obviously,” Enzo agreed softly, cupping her shoulders as he turned toward his uncle. “We're not going to hide this any longer. So if you have a problem with us being together?—”

“I don't. But I'd rather you keep the uh, physical expressions of your relationship off company property. Gotta have some boundaries. This is a workplace, after all. Not a sex club.” He started to close the door.

“You're leaving us in here?” Enzo asked, clearly as perplexed as Elena.

“I'm late to pick up my wife. Time for me to do some romancing of my own.” He shook his head as if he couldn’t believe what he was saying. “Do me a favor and make sure you’ve gathered all your belongings before you leave.”

The door clicked shut.

Elena let out a long shaky breath and pressed her hand against her stomach. “God, I think I just aged ten years.”

“My uncle's a big softie. He’ll get over it.”

“Maybe he will, but I won’t.” She shuddered. “Besides, he's still my boss.”

“Doesn't mean he's not cool. My whole family is. You'll see.” He kissed the top of her head. “I want you to meet them. But first, we'll tackle meeting yours.”

“Okay.” She breathed in, then out again. Maybe she wouldn't need divine intervention after all. “I can deal.” She could, and she would.

She didn’t intend to hide from life any longer.
