I was right about her having the power, but instead of ruining my life, she changed itfor the better.

“So you’re not mad at me?” I ask, pulling away just enough to take her hand and guide us to our seats. Her cheeks are flushed from the orgasm—or maybe it’s the revelation I just told her.

She keeps her fingers wrapped around mine, bringing our joined hands to her lap as she stares down at the stage below us. “No, I’m not mad. I knew it was the best kiss of my life—it makes sense since it was with you.”

My spine straightens as I give her a smug smile. “Of course, it was. We’re meant to be. If you told me you had a better kiss with someone else, I might just have to kill them.”

Winnie’s eyes go wide. She looks over at me, her mouth open in disbelief. “Archer,” she scolds. “You can’t say things like that.”

My free hand plays with my bow tie as I try not to react to the thought of her with any other man. It’ll never happen again. She’s mine for the rest of our days. “Sure, I can,” I grumble. “You’re mine, Winnie Bishop.”

She leans over the armrest between us, a bemused smile playing on her lips. “And you’re mine, Archer Moore.”

I return the smile, closing the distance so we can kiss once again. “Good,” I say as we pull away. My eyes flick to the performers on the stage. “Now, could we pay attention to the show? You’re being awfully distracting,” I tease.

Her mouth flies open. She shakes her head at me. “Excuse me, I was the one paying close attention to the opening when you snuck your hand into my panties.”

I lift an eyebrow. “Technically, you weren’t wearing any panties.”

She rolls her eyes before focusing back on the stage. “My point still stands. You’re the one who started the distraction.”

“I can’t help it. You’re too perfect. I wasn’t lying when I said watching you close the deal with the last remaining people tonight had me desperate for you. You’re so fucking sexy I can’t help myself.”

She settles deeper in her seat, trying to hide her satisfied smile. “I really didn’t do that much,” she whispers.

“Don’t discredit yourself like that, baby. You’re a force to be reckoned with, and I’m so fucking lucky to stand on the sideline and watch you do it.”

Winnie looks at me, her lips slightly parted. Finally, she takes a breath. “I love you.”

I pause for a minute, not expecting those words to leave her mouth. It doesn’t take me long to gather myself. I lift our joined hands and bring them to my lips. “Not as much as I love you.”

She shakes her head but doesn’t argue with me. Instead, she points to the stage. “Now, stop talking. I’m trying to watch the show my husband spent a lot of money on.”

I laugh, focusing on the same thing as her. “Whatever you say, baby.”

CHAPTER 50

WINNIE

“I’m nervous,”I admit, staring at my shoes as the elevator doors close.

Archer grabs my hand, giving it an encouraging squeeze. “Everything is going to go according to plan,” he assures me.

“There’s too much riding on this for it not to,” Tyson comments from the other side of the elevator.

My eyes shoot up to glare at him. “That doesn’t help at all.”

He lifts his shoulder in a shrug. “Winnie, we’ve spent countless hours planning this. We’ve had everyone confirm multiple times that they’ll support us. Archer’s right—everything will go exactly as we have planned it to.”

I let out a loud breath, trying to gather myself. I’d barely slept last night, thinking of what was going to happen today. I’m just ready for all of it to be over. No matter what happens, I won’t have to live with the pit of anxiety that’s lived in my stomach since the moment Archer told me of his father’s plan.

“Do you think Dad will forgive us?” I ask Tyson, my fingers tightening around Archer’s hand as the elevator climbs to the floor we need.

Tyson runs his hand through his hair, keeping his eyes locked on mine. “Do you want the easy answer or the real one?”

“Real,” I answer immediately, my heart racing because hedoesn’t even have to answer for me to know what his answer will be.

“Dad will be very upset at first. He doesn’t even know Archer’s dad was planning a hostile takeover. That’d set him off alone. To find out that I convinced shareholders to replace him on the board? He’ll be pissed. Our only hope is that one day, he’ll understand why we did it. He’ll see what we can do if Archer and I work together in the future.”
