“Blaze?”

“Yes, it’s my brother,” he grumbles.

“Why is he here now?”

He shakes his head. “I guess I should’ve picked a different resort,” he says. “I can make him go away,” he says with eagerness. The thought of his brother knowing what we’re doing inside this dang cabin that I’m not so sure of privacy is better than a cold shower. My desire has been seriously dampened.

“No. You better see what he wants. I’m absolutely not having sex while someone could be listening.”

He grumbles before rising from the bed, his clothes all messed up, and an impressive erection pressing against his jeans. It’s almost enough to bring my desire back to thesurface... almost. Blaze moves to the door and cracks it open to peer at his brother, who I can’t see.

“I’m coming out. Move away from the door,” Blaze tells him. I hear the man laugh, then hear his steps retreating from the doorway. Blaze turns back to look at me.

“He’s gone now,” he hopefully says.

“Not a chance.” His shoulders sag, but then he chuckles as he straightens his clothes.

“Don’t take too long or I’ll have to come back and finish what we started. To hell with my brother,” he warns.

I’m not sure if he’s kidding, but as soon as the door to the cabin is safely shut, I jump up and turn the lock. As much as I’d love to make love with Blaze again, I don’t relish the thought of doing so with an audience on the other side of the door.

My body aches as I turn the water on high in the shower. I might’ve bended in ways I’ve never tried before during the night. Lovemaking with Blaze is new and exciting each time. It had been the same for us ten years ago. He knows how to please a woman — that much hasn’t changed.

I dress for adventure since I’m not sure what we’ll be doing for the day. Stepping outside, I don’t see Blaze or his brother, so I make my way to the lodge and step inside. Another beautiful breakfast buffet is set up. This time I don’t hesitate and fill my plate with goodies. I immediately spot Shari. The baby isn’t with her. I move over to the table.

“Good morning. How was your day yesterday?” she asks. I immediately blush. She laughs. “Alrighty then, it looks like your night might’ve been better than your day.”

I choke on my coffee before letting out a sigh. “It was a pretty great night. I can’t pretend to lie,” I admit.

“So, the theory of thinking it was only good in your imagination is thrown out the window.” She isn’t voicing this like a question. I still shake my head.

“I don’t know how it’s possible, but it’sbetterthan I remember. It doesn’t change anything though. We didn’t make it ten years ago, and we won’t make it now. I have zero regrets about this weekend, but it’s certainly not going to help me let the man go.”

“Maybe if ten years wasn’t enough to make the feelings go away, it wasn’t meant to end,” she suggests.

It hurts my pride, but I admit the truth. “He left me. It wasn’t my choice. Even if I try to have something with him again, he’ll leave.”

“We all grow up as we get older.”

“I don’t think Blaze is finished growing.”

She smiles. “I don’t know. That man seems pretty smitten with you.” I don’t want to have hope in her words. If I don’t guard my heart this weekend, it’s going to hurt more than I want it to. I don’t have time to be sad.

We don’t get the chance to talk more before Blaze and his brother blow into the room, making several heads turn. Besides the fact that this man doesn’t know the meaning of the word commitment, I don’t think I want to date a man who makes all of the ladies’ heads turn. Even if he was into me for a while, it wouldn’t take long for temptation to knock on his door.

“Are you ready for day two?” Blaze asks as he sits at the table with a heaping plate of food. It’s shocking the body this man has with the amount of food he consumes. Of course, he plays hard and that burns a lot of calories.

“I can’t wait to see what we do next,” I say, meaning it. I love this place. I wouldn’t mind coming back again, but I don’t think it can happen. I won’t want to take a chance of running into Blaze when this is finished. It will hurt too much.

We finish breakfast and get started on another day of adventure. We take a downhill mountain bike ride that’s both thrilling and terrifying. The fear adds to the excitement. The trailis ten miles, and we move through different terrain of rocks, dirt, curves, and views. We finish our ride at a mountain lake with a waterfall. The water is icy cold, but refreshing after sweating for a few hours on the bikes. I don’t dive in, but put my legs in and splash it over my head, shivering as I laugh.

“Cannonball,” Blaze shouts, the only warning he gives before he flies over me and splashes hard in the water, causing a bunch of fat droplets to pour over me. I laugh as I gasp from the cold. He pops out of the water grinning as the cold droplets roll over his naked chest. Damn, he looks better than any man I’ve ever seen.

“How can you stand being in there?”

“It’s refreshing,” he tells me as he lies back and floats on his back, moving in small circles not too far from me. I notice him drawing closer, and I quickly scoot backward. I have no doubt what’s on his mind, and there’s not a chance I’m letting him drag me into this water. It feels good on my legs, and the droplets even feel good on my body. If I get pulled in though, I’ll sink to the bottom. It’s far too cold to swim around in.

He laughs. “Smart girl,” he says before he moves to the edge and climbs out. He moves over to his bike and pulls two towels from the bag hanging on it. He tosses me one before drying himself off.
