“You dress like this when you’re not here too,” she points out.

“I know,” I say with a sigh. I’ve had this argument many times with my sibling. I love both of them more than anyone on this planet, but they’re both so vivacious and full of life, and I’m dull. I’ve been this way my whole life. They were the popular kids in school; I was the nerd in the back of the library. I assure myself I’m fine with this.

“I love you so much,” Jenny says.

I smile. “And you know how much I love you.”

“I know. I’m impossiblenotto love.” She makes me laugh. She’s confident. If I had even ten percent of her confidence I’d be a very happy woman indeed.

I turn to Rich as we exit the campus building and move toward the bus stop. There’s no point in trying to drive right now. It’s faster to take a bus to wherever they’re dragging me.

“What have you been up to?” I ask.

“A little of this and a little of that. I just returned from Australia. Damn, we did some good dives over there,” he says.

“That explains the ridiculous tan you’re sporting,” I say, feeling a lot of envy and trying not to show it.

“I keep trying to get you to come with me.”

“I know. But I don’t want to borrow money from Mom and Dad.”

“I have tons of money. Say the word and I’ll whisk you off to any corner of the planet you want... first class,” he says.

It’s amusing he says this as we step into a stinky city bus. My brother does have a lot of money, but he’s not a snob. He has no problem staying in cheap hotels or riding the city bus. He refuses to fly coach though. I understand why as he’d be folded up like a pretzel.

We move a few blocks down the street and walk into my favorite coffee shop that has an amazing deli where the owner makes fresh breads and pastries every morning. My mouth waters at the aroma in the air.

We order our food and sit down to wait. My sister chats about her blog that’s gone viral and she snaps lots of pictures to post in a new update, and our food and drinks soon arrive. She then pulls out an envelope from her purse and pushes it over to me.

“What’s this?” I ask, my mouth partially full of food, disgusting myself. I chew it down, then take a drink so I won’t look like a pig when I speak next.

“It’s a gift,” Jenny says as she bounces in her chair. I can see why she’s so big on the internet. The woman glows. People naturally want to follow her. If she were anyone else I might be jealous, but I love my sister way too much to feel anything other than complete adoration for her.

“I just want to say this is all Jenny. I checked out the person though, and you’re safe,” Rich says.

“What?” I’m seriously confused.

“Open it,” Jenny demands. She’s about to tear open the envelope herself. I have a feeling I really don’t want to knowwhat’s in the envelope, but I tear it open anyway. A card pops out:

Good for one night of utter abandonment.

Can last the entire weekend.

You’re being escorted to a secret night of pleasure

What you choose to do with your gift is up to you.

Sincerely,

I look up in horror at my sister. She’s giddy as she claps her hands, looking very proud of herself. Rich shrugs when I look at him, as if he’s not super pleased, but knows he can’t stop our sister.

“You bought me a male hooker?” I whisper, not wanting anyone to overhear this.

Jenny looks at me in horror. “Of course I didn’t. I paid for an escort to give you a weekend of fun. What you choose to do with your gift during your weekend of fun is up to you. He’ll take you on a wild adventure either way. I hope you get laid, but that’s up to you.” My brother chokes on his sip of coffee then glares at Jenny who brushes him off.
