I could stay there forever, watch the sunrise hit the windows in the morning, and once the warmth filled the bedroom, take her again on top of the sheets.
She released another sigh then righted herself.
I knew it was over.
“You should go…” Her eyes were elsewhere as she said it, like she didn’t want to see my disappointment.
“Why?”
“You know why…” Her eyes were still on the window, the curtains closed and blocking the view of the city.

She raised her chin and looked at me, her eyes absorbed by my words. “I thought you’d try to push for more.”
If her father were out of the picture, I would. “Why?”
She was quiet for a while. “You chased me for a long time.”
“And now I have you. Not forever, but for now, and that’s enough.”
She stared at me with an unreadable gaze.
