Madison nodded. “You need proof just in case something goes wrong and you want parental rights. What about the mother? Do you have feelings for her?”

What could he say that his brothers wouldn’t make fun of him? Yes, he’d had feelings for her since the night they made love. But it had been so soon after Taylor that he’d run as fast as his legs could carry him out of that apartment. And what a mistake that had been.

But was he ready to confess to the world that he was becoming emotionally attached to Cristina? No.

“I’ve always liked and cared about her, but the verdict is still out on her and me,” he said.

And yet he would marry her tomorrow if she would agree. That would solve so many issues with Wyatt and he’d have her here with him, in his bed. But was he ready to give her his heart?

No. Not until she wanted him. Not his money, him.

Adrian shook his head. “So when do we get to meet our new nephew?”

“Soon,” he said thinking he was going to ask her to spend the weekend at the ranch. “Soon.”

It was then that the idea struck him. “Madison, aren’t you friends with Desiree Burnett?”

“Yes,” she said.

“Aren’t one of the cousins married to an artist? Someone who likes to paint like Georgia O’Keeffe?”

“Yes, Hannah Newhouse Burnett,” she said.

“Cristina is a painter, but she never has time any longer. Do you think Hannah would talk to her and help her get her foot in the art world?”

Madison smiled. “All I can do is ask. I’ll call Desiree tomorrow and see what she says.”

“Thank you,” Blake said knowing that Cristina would love to speak to another artist. Especially one as good as Hannah.

“What other items are on the agenda,” Adrian asked.

“Roundup is scheduled,” Evan said. “All hands on deck except for Cody. And if his team doesn’t make it to the playoffs this year, we’ll expect him to be here for branding.”

“What else?” Dakota asked. “I need to get back.”

The man hibernated in his house and sometimes they all wondered what he was doing over there.

“I think that’s it,” Adrian said. “This meeting is adjourned. Let’s go grab a beer.”

They all stood and walked out of the room.

Garth came up and gave him a hug. “Congratulations, man. How neat to have a son.”

Blake’s heart filled with love and pride. “It’s the best, Garth. When I saw him, I knew he was mine and my heart filled with love.”

One by one, his brothers congratulated him and he couldn’t wait to bring Cristina and Wyatt to the house and introduce them to his family. And he wanted to see if Cristina would like living on a ranch.

Because if he had his way, they would both be here to stay.

CHAPTER 15

Saturday morning dawned bright and clear. She gazed out the window, not seeing the man who had been hanging around all week. Seeing him made her nervous.

She always tried to leave when he wasn’t around.

If he was a reporter, she didn’t have time to deal with him or any other one, for that matter. She was a single working mother and her time was limited as were her funds. And finding another place to live would be difficult.

And, no, Blake was not going to find her a different apartment because he would put her someplace she couldn’t afford.
