With my mother’s words swirling around in my head, Kitty’s almost missing lifelong love because she was holding out for something she thought was better, my thoughts turn to Owen.

And it hits me.

I wouldn’t care one bit if he chose skywriting or a quiet, simple moment where it was just us two. I would just want to hear the words. And I would want to hear them as soon as possible.

This poor guy has been holding his feelings in because he’s trying to find the right way to tell the woman he loves that he loves her. But I see it now. He was right in the first place. The how he tells her shouldn’t matter.

The romance is in the words, not the way.

Hopeful:

I think you should tell her how you feel.

Practical:

Just like that?

Hopeful:

Just like that.

Practical:

What about the romance? The grand gesture?

Hopeful:

I’m starting to think that working up the courage to say how you feel is the grand gesture.

Practical:

But that sounds. . .almost practical.

Hopeful:

Yeah, it does, doesn’t it?

Practical:

But you just said the practical guy didn’t work for you.

Hopeful:

He definitely didn’t. But. . .there’s the hope of someone else. Someday.

Practical:

Huh. Interesting.

So, what should I say?

Hopeful:

Well, I’d start with how you feel.

Maybe add in a little bit of what makes her special and

end with how you want your relationship to go or change.
