“You’ll have plenty of help. Right, Carter?”

“Yes. Definitely.” He smiled.

“Did I mention that if you do this for me, the building is rent-free for a year?” A smirk crossed Shaun’s lips.”

“Rent free for a year?” I asked with surprise.

“Yep.” He stood from his chair. “Come on. Let’s go take a look at the building right now.”

“Now? I have to go to the auto shop and see the mechanic. I told him I’d be in today.”

“You’ll have plenty of time,” Shaun said. “You can ride with me in my car, and then you can leave when we come back.”

“Okay. I guess I am interested in seeing this building.” I stood from my chair. “It was nice seeing you again, Carter.”

“Trust me, sweetheart. The pleasure was all mine.” He winked. “I’ll see you later, Shaun.” He left the office.

“I am not your sweetheart!” I shouted, and Shaun chuckled.

“Selena, reschedule my meeting with Will. I’m heading out for a while.”

“Shaun, he’s already here waiting for you.”

“Give him my apologies and tell him something came up.”

“Why do you always do this?” she spoke with frustration as we walked down the stairs.

“My cousin told me about your car fiasco yesterday,” Shaun said as we drove to the new building.

“Your cousin? Carter is your cousin?”

“Yes.” He smiled. “Carter Kind is my cousin.”

“Ah, so his last name is Kind.”

“He’s a great guy, Zoey.”

“And you’re telling me this why, Shaun?”

“Because he seems to want to get to know you better. I get the impression you’re hesitant, and I want to let you know he’s a great guy.”

“I don’t care if he’s a great guy. Besides, you’re his cousin, and you’re biased. I’m not interested in guys at the moment. I have other things I need to focus on.”

“Like the bakery?” He looked over at me.

“Yeah. Like the bakery,” I sighed.

“Here we are,” Shaun said as he parked the car, and we climbed out.

I looked around the empty new space when we stepped inside the building.

“My sister-in-law, Julia, owns Mojo Madness next door. A lot of traffic goes through there, which would help increase your business. She does phenomenal.”

“This space is great. I can already envision my bakery here.”

“Excellent. It’s yours. Do we have a deal?” He extended his hand.

“You said that your brothers own an architecture firm?” I asked.
