“She’s so cool. I really like her.” She grinned. “When I’m done with this piece, I’m going to make her something for the bakery.”

“I’m sure she’ll like that. I’ll let you get back to work.”

When I walked out of the shed, Gabriel stepped out the sliding door.

“Hey, I was just coming over.” He smiled. “The girls are coming over to talk about wedding stuff with Piper. Grab a couple of beers and meet us down at the beach.”

“I’ll be down in a few,” I said.

After taking two bottles of beer from the refrigerator, I walked down the beach and sat in the chair next to my brothers.

“Why did Zoey leave?” Grayson asked. “I noticed her car wasn’t in your driveway earlier.”

“She had things to do,” I said as I brought the bottle to my lips.

“I still can’t believe you bought the boat.” Gabriel placed his hand on my shoulder. “God, we were so shocked.”

“Best birthday ever.” Grayson smiled.

“And the fact that you told Zoey about it, and not all of us, says something right there,” Christian said.

“Do you think we can talk about something else other than Zoey,” I blurted out.

The beach went silent as my brothers and cousins stared at me.

“Uh-oh. What happened?” Simon asked.

“Nothing happened.” I finished my first beer, grabbed the second bottle, and twisted off the cap.

Jackson’s phone rang. He raised his hand for us to quiet down while answering it.

“Hi, babe. Are you on your way home? WHAT?! I’m on my way.” He jumped up from his chair.

“Bro, what happened?” Conner asked.

“Georgia was in the middle of an emergency c-section and went into labor. I have to get to the hospital. I can’t believe this. The baby isn’t due for another week and a half. I told her she needed to stop working already.”

“At least she’s in the place she’s supposed to be,” Christian said. “Let’s go get the girls and head over there.”

We all headed to the hospital and waited in the waiting room.

“Did you call Zoey to let her know about Georgia?” Grayson asked.

“Uh, no. I was going to wait until she had the baby.”

“Are you okay? You’ve seemed off all night?” Gabriel asked.

“I was just going to ask the same thing?” Grayson said.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I hooked my arms around them. “I’m just not a fan of hospitals.”

“That’s understandable, bro,” Gabriel said.

Shaun walked over with his phone in his hand. “I just got off the phone with Roman. Ken and Raquel have been arrested. The FBI searched Ken’s home office and found everything they needed to prosecute them. They’ll be going away for a long time.” He smiled.

“Excellent news, Shaun. And the money?”

“All of it will be coming back to Sterling Capital.”
