“Clever. I especially liked the wobble when you stood up.”

Eva gave a little bow. “You think I spent my youth as a pampered princess and didn’t go through an ice-skating phase?”

“I concede defeat.”

“Yesss,” she hissed, executing a quick spin. “No more bacon pans for me.”

“You know what this means?” I asked while slowly closing the distance between us.

The tone in my voice must have warned her because Eva stopped her victory dance and sent me a wary look. “What?”

“I have no reason to hold back now.” I sprinted toward her, and she didn’t have time to move before I caught her hips and hauled her over my shoulder.

Eva squealed and gripped my underlayer in two tight fists, curling herself as close to me as she could get. “Put me down, you psycho.”

I slid my hand up her thigh, slowing down as I circled the rink. “No, I think I like you where you are. Might as well relax and enjoy the ride.”

My thumb slipped between her legs, and her breath hit my lower back with puff of warm air. “Gavin.”

She didn’t say anything else, but I recognized the yearning in her voice. Eva was so responsive to me, a simple touch was enough to have her wet and waiting. According to Stephen, she was always disappointed because she only picked hookups she could control—but she couldn’t control this. Our bet at the game was a prime example.

I flexed my fingers and slowed my speed, so I could lean forward. “Let go. I’ll catch you.”

Eva understood what I wanted her to do and released her grip. I shifted her weight from my shoulder to my arms, setting her skates back on the ice. She caught herself with a hand behind my neck, and I drew us both upright again. My arms stayed locked around her, and her lips curved up at the edges.

“Had any experience couples skating?” she asked.

“A little.” With a tiny push, I set us in motion with her tucked neatly between my skates.

Iwas as at home on my skates as I was on solid ground, so Eva only had to hold on. We made a slow circle around the rink, and I was reminded of our first morning living together when I’d woken up with her curled around me in my bed.

“Did you know you’re a cuddler?” The question slipped out without much thought, but Eva stiffened a little.

“No, I’m not.”

I let out a quiet laugh. “Yes, you are. You burrowed right past that pillow wall you erected the first night.”

Her fingers tickled the hair at the back of my neck, and she looked away for a long second before raising a brow at me. “How do I know you didn’t pull me past the pillow wall? You were the one making sexy eyes.”

“How do you know what my eyes looked like? You were facing away from me, trying so hard to prove being in bed with me didn’t affect you.”

She scoffed. “It didn’t.”

“So hard,” I reiterated.

Eva snickered. “I wasn’t the one who was hard.”

“That’s not going to change any time soon, Princess.”

She let out a little huff, then chewed on her lower lip, like she was debating her next thought.

“Go ahead,” I encouraged her.

“Cole mentioned you were supposed to go to another school up north. How did you end up at TU?”

I shifted my grip to stroke the exposed skin of her belly, trying not to shut down at her question. If she’d asked me the night in my bed, I wouldn’t have even considered sharing the truth, but Eva wasn’t asking so she could use the information against me. She was curious.
