I curled an arm under her limp form and sat on the couch, lifting her onto my lap. She kissed me, and I let her slow things down, savoring the way her mouth moved against mine. Eva made a greedy noise and rolled her hips.

“Need you,” she murmured.

“I’m yours,” I whispered back. “Take what you need.”

She lined me up with her entrance and sank down slowly until I was buried to the hilt. I pressed my thumb against her clit while she moved and gripped her ass hard enough to leave bruises in the shape of my fingerprints.

“That’s it, baby. Ride me.”

I licked at her pebbled nipples, sucking one into my mouth then the other while she went wild, head tossed back, muttering incoherent curses. Eva was stunning when she fully let go, and my heart stuttered in my chest. She came again, and when her movement slowed, I gripped her hips and thrust upward, chasing my own release.

After cleaning us both up, I carried her to my bed. Sex in the living room was fun, but the couch wasn’t even big enough for me, let alone two of us. Eva immediately curled up against my side and fell asleep, but I stayed awake for a long time after with the future on my mind.

Iusually loved Halloween. Coming up with a group costume for my crew of football players—and now their girlfriends—should have been the highlight of my semester, but this year, all I wanted was to spend the night with Gavin.

Not even naked. No, I wasn’t looking forward to several hours with his dirty, dirty mouth, though I was hoping we’d also get to the naked time. I was going out with a group of hockey players I barely knew because Gavin couldn’t say no, and apparently, neither could I.

He’d officially ruined me, but first, I had practice and a meeting with Carl to endure.

The sun beat down as I walked from my car to practice, but the wind brought a distinct chill perfect for Halloween. I was glad for the cooler weather because I had bruises all over me along with a fading hickey on my neck thanks to my boyfriend, the hockey asshole. I could get away with a high neck sweater and full-length leggings since I wouldn’t be doing anything active today.

Earlier, the athletic trainer had raised his brows when he spotted the perfect fingerprints on my ass to go along with thepurple splotch on my hip from the fall. He didn’t say anything about it though, simply advised I wait a few more days until I resume full activities since my shoulder still felt a little sore.

I didn’t bother telling him I’d resumed myactivitiesalmost immediately. Gavin had barely let me out of his sight—or his bed—the last two days. I came to practice today because with Juliet suspended from the team, I was the sole remaining captain of our squad.

I smiled on my way up the steps. If I’d known I needed to take a dive to get rid of her, I might have tried it earlier. The memory of Leon’s horrified face right after the fall took away most of my petty joy. Coach Kat met me at the door to the gym, and I handed her the report from the trainer.

She read it and sent me a knowing look. “No flying or tumbling until your shoulder is one hundred percent.”

I nodded, not willing to make anything worse. “I know. I’m here to help and work on the choreo.”

“Okay. Leon is a mess. Maybe you could talk to him.”

Behind her, I could see the various stunt groups standing around chatting, but I didn’t spot Leon. “Where is he?”

She pursed her lips. “In his car.”

I sighed. “I’ll take care of it.”

“One more thing,” she stopped me before I could turn around and retrace my steps to the parking lot. “I know you and Juliet weren’t on the best of terms, but she’s claiming you kicked her on purpose. Any response to that?”

Several responses flew through my mind, none I could say out loud to my coach. “I was trying not to land on my head. I didn’t even know she was underneath me until I hit her on the way down.” It wasn’t entirely the truth because I could hear her yelling at James, our spotter, but I didn’t know exactly where she was standing since she was slightly behind me.

Coach Kat nodded. “That’s what I expected you to say. There’s enough video of the incident that I feel confident in my choice to suspend her. By the way, next time tell your hero to use the stairs. We don’t need another student injured. I’ll start warmups.”

She rubbed my arm and blew her whistle for the group while I trudged back outside. It took me almost an hour of a heart to heart with Leon to get him to come back to practice. I’d fallen plenty of times before in my cheer career—and in ice skating and gymnastics before that—but Leon had never dealt with his flyer hitting the ground.

Once we were inside, practice ran smoothly. Without Juliet there causing problems and questioning every decision, we were finally able to get through a good portion of the routine. I was feeling good about the progress when I walked into Carl’s office after lunch.

At some point during practice, I’d ditched the sweater for my tank top, and the weather had warmed up enough outside I didn’t think about putting it back on. At least, not until Carl turned to look at me and raised a brow.

“I heard you’d had a fall, but I was unaware you injured your neck.”

My hand started to rise to cover the hickey from Gavin, but I forced it back down and raised my chin. “I didn’t. It’s from a separate incident.”

I showed my teeth in a sharp smile, daring him to ask about my sex life, but as usual, Carl left it at the single passive aggressive comment.
