“You were willing to throw down with the cops in the grocery store?”

“I’m willin’ to throw down with the cops in a lot of places,” he says, being short with me. He ignores me as he places the rest of the items on the belt, and the women checking us outglance between us. I shake my head and walk past Ridge to pay. He doesn’t even wait for me to finish when he scoops up all the bags and carries them out to the car. I watch him load the trunk before climbing into the driver’s seat once more.

I walk over and climb in, letting out a sigh of relief that nothing bad happened.

“You were right,” I say softly.

“About what?”

“How they look at you. It’s so fucked up,” I tell him.

“It’s my life. I chose that when I chose the club. It comes with the territory,” he says as if it’s no big deal.

“You weren’t doing anything wrong, though.”

“Don’t have to be. I look different, and that’s enough for them to think I’m doin’ shit wrong.” I see the way his hands clench the steering wheel, and I want to defuse the situation, but I don’t know how. I reach over and place my hand on his arm, and his head snaps around to look at me.

“Thanks for going with me even though it was uncomfortable.”

Ridge

Ipace along the edge of her property, just checking shit out. For someone as famous as she is she doesn’t really have much of a security system in place here. I think I’ll talk to her about that today.

I pull out a cigarette and light it up as I walk around the side of the house. That’s when I see her through the window. She’s in the kitchen dancing to music I can hear from out here. She must be blasting it through the speakers in there. She looks amazing with the way her hips sway, and her body moves. If she were any other girl, I probably would have fucked her senseless already.

I’m about to look away when she spins around, and our eyes lock. Her cheeks immediately turn pink, and I can see the color from here. She smiles, and it stops my goddamn heart. She’s too beautiful for her own good, and yet I find myself smiling back at her.

I bring my cigarette back to my lips as she slowly rolls her hips. She’s dancing for me. Her hands run along her body, and I can see the light in her eyes from here. She’s doing this for me.

I inhale the nicotine into my lungs before blowing out a ring of smoke and flicking it to the ground. I smash it with my bootbefore storming toward the door. She’s playing with a man who has little self-control right now.

I storm in the back door and straight into the kitchen, where she turns, and our eyes lock once more. She keeps dancing, swaying those fucking hips I can picture wrapped around my head while I eat her. I walk across the floor and stand right in front of her before reaching up and wrapping my hand around the back of her neck. I pull her toward me, and she gladly comes as I lean down, seconds away from pressing my lips to hers.

“Olson?” a woman’s voice calls out. I immediately release her and step back, wondering what the hell I’m doing. I’m here to protect her, not fuck her. I’m here to keep her safe. Fuck me.

I step back as another woman walks into the kitchen, looking between the two of us.

“May, I didn’t know you were coming over,” she says as she turns the music down.

“You said you were home. I wanted to see you. Am I interrupting something?” she asks. Olson shakes her head as she looks at me.

“That’s Ridge. He’s my security,” she tells her.

“Oh, nice. I’m glad you decided to get some security around here.”

“About that,” I add. “Your security system is shit. I got a guy comin’ to look at it and amp it up a little,” I tell her.

“What do you mean? I was told it was top of the line,” she questions.

“They always say that, and it isn’t horrible, but my guy can make it better,” I tell her. She nods her head as I walk to the fridge and grab a bottle of water out, unscrewing the top. I take a long pull before I notice both of them staring at me.

“What?”

“Nothing. Thank you for having someone come look at it,” Olson says quickly.

“No problem, Princess.” With that, I walk out of the kitchen and into the living room while they talk. I drop onto the couch and pull out my cell, calling Cage.
