The feeling of the hot water hitting my cold skin was heavenly. I washed off the smell of anger and dirtiness that clung to me like a parasite, thinking about my plan.

I needed to focus on completing my mission. However, as I stood underneath the warm stream of water, thoughts of Julia continued to invade my mind. The image of her naked, vulnerable figure lingered in my peripheral vision. I couldn't shake the guilt of taking advantage of my position to satisfy my basic animal desires.

As I stepped out of the shower, I wiped the condensation collecting on the mirror. My reflection stared back at me.

The stark contrast between my cold demeanor and the fiery passion raging within me created confusion within my soul. My thoughts spiraled into chaos, questioning the origins of my sudden concern for Julia. Was it lust or something deeper?

I dried my body off, wrapping a towel around my waist, before stepping out into the room.

Julia sat on the edge of the bed, hugging herself and staring into space. Her face was pale, and her lips were cracked. But somehow, she managed to remain stunningly beautiful.

"So," I began, my voice echoing in the quiet room. "I think it's time to leave?" It wasn't a question.

I was aware that she was uncomfortable being trapped in this situation with me, and I also understood that she was scared of me. I didn't blame her for having those thoughts about me. I was a hired killer, and she was a pawn in my game. I couldn't help but wonder about the fear she must be experiencing right now. Fear was something that I hadn't felt since I was a child.

Julia looked at me, her eyes widening and her cheeks flushing. "Oh, but you're going to get dressed first, right?"

Chapter eleven

Julia

????

Holy hot damn.

Sasuke was standing there in nothing but a white towel, his black hair still damp from the shower. His body was tanned and toned, like an athlete. His slim build was accented by his well-defined muscles. His body was tattooed with traditional Japanese motifs, covering his chest, arms and sides. The ink ran down his abs, disappearing underneath the edge of the towel.

He caught me staring at his torso and gave me a cocky grin.

"You like what you see?"

I snapped my gaze away and pretended to busy myself with smoothing the wrinkles on my hoodie. "Don't flatter yourself," I grumbled.

I heard him chuckle softly. "No shame in admitting it."

I wanted to pretend I didn't know what he was talking about, but I knew that was exactly what he wanted. Instead, I turned to him, meeting his gaze evenly. "Ok, fine, you're sexy," I snapped. "Happy? Does that stroke your ego?"

Sasuke chuckled, moving past me and grabbing fresh clothes.

He knew exactly what he was doing and if I were in any other situation I would have given in a long time ago. I hadn't had a fling in forever and he'd be the perfect guy to break my dry spell. But, I had to focus on getting home.

I risked a glance as he got dressed behind me. The tattoos covered most of his back, too.

"You're in the yakuza, right?" I asked.

Sasuke hesitated, pulling jeans over his hips. "What tipped you off?"

"Oh, I don't know... maybe the assassin thing or maybe the tattoos, or a combination of the two?"

"Smart girl," he said, turning to me and pulling a t-shirt over his body, finally concealing his well-toned torso from my hungry gaze.

The tension was broken by the sound of buzzing across the room. It was the distinct rhythm of a phone vibrating.

My purse was lying somewhere on the floor, I hadn't seen it since I was kidnapped. A nervous knot formed in my stomach.

I stared at Sasuke until the sound stopped.

"I need to let my mom know I'm ok," I said.
