Despite everything, there was still a lingering feeling of anger when I thought about the fact that she had to endure all of those difficult situations without any support. I understood that she was not to blame for any of it because she was the victim. Nevertheless, I felt a sense of guilt for not being present in her moment of need. In a crucial moment where she required my utmost support and stability, I made the unfortunate decision to succumb to my own anger and grief, leading to a self-destructive path where my only priority was seeking retribution for her departure.

Everything was off kilter. There was no balance. No semblance of normality. My wife was not my wife, and I was notthe husband I should have been. How in the world would she ever forgive me for what I’d put her through? For what I’d done to her just this morning?

My God, just thinking about the degradation she suffered at my own hands was enough to curdle my stomach.

I was the same monster as Cynic.

“Whatever you are thinking, get rid of it,” Montana whispered, leaning towards me. “She’s gonna need you more now than ever and you know it. It’s one thing to leave because of her family, but now that the truth is out, everyone is going to be looking to you on how to proceed, brother. So, man the fuck up and make it right.”

“She doesn’t trust me.”

“Then make her trust you.”

Glaring at my best friend, I sneered, “And just how in the fuck do you expect me to do that? Since she’s been back, I’ve ignored her, humiliated her, and treated her horribly. Hell, man, we all punished her. We cut her, and for what? Because a fucking brother in the club raped her?”

“The brothers are already talking about contrition. Let them each make their own amends where Largo is concerned, but she is your wife. The woman you love. She’s loved you for as long as I’ve known you. Trust me, Mercy, if anyone can get her head right, it will be you.”

Needing a change of topic, I asked, “How long before Malice returns?”

“When he has the son of a bitch in chains. You know damn well Malice won’t return without him. Until then, you need to concentrate on your wife.”

“I’ve called Rage home. I want the Playground demolished as soon as possible.”

Alexander ‘Rage’ Cruise was a brother in the Soulless Sinners MC and the owner of Cruise Demolitions, one of the bestdemolition crews around the world. There wasn’t a building, structure, or bridge that Rage couldn’t bring down. Currently working overseas, Rage and his crew were helping some third world country demolish and rebuild after years of devastating war ravaged the area.

Montana looked at me. “I think Malice might have something to say about that.”

“Don’t give a fuck. The place is coming down if I have to do it myself, brick by brick.”

“Why?”

“It’s where he raped her. She will never step foot in that place again. No sense in keeping it around. I only agreed to build the place because she asked me for somewhere she could go to be herself. After what that sick fuck did, I doubt she will ever be herself again.”

“I’m going to let you and Malice hash that out. In the meantime, Shame and Pippen are piecing together everything they can regarding the other matter. Renaldo and his family are helping. They even agreed to giving a DNA sample. With Bane incapacitated for the foreseeable future, I’ve asked Tessa to take over all the medical needs of the club.”

“Bet she loved that.”

Montana smirked, looking at his wife, who sat next to mine, talking animatedly as Largo held Tessa’s son York. “Let’s just say she wasn’t happy with me.”

“I’m going to be bringing Largo to the clubhouse in a few days. I want Tessa to look her over.”

“Why? Bane said she was healthy.”

“She was pregnant when Cynic raped her. She lost the baby. I want to make sure there are no lingering effects. Largo’s been through enough already. I want to alleviate this issue for her if I can.”

“I’ll let Tessa know.”

“Dad,” my beautiful girl happily chirped, running around the table toward me.

Wrapping my arm around her, I smiled. “Yes?”

“Aunt Tessa invited me to spend the night. Can I go?”

When I looked upwards, my eyes locked onto Largo’s face, desperately searching for any sign that she wished for Sophia to stay home. When I saw nothing, I asked, “Baby, you okay with Sophia going with Montana and Tessa?”

My woman smiled at our daughter. “She really wants to go. Plus, Mrs. Alice is there. It’s not like she will have Stone House to herself.”

“And I get to help Aunt Tessa with York. He’s so cute, Dad. When can I have a baby brother?”
