It’s not a question. I don’t know the answer, anyway. My mother was my rock. She would never have hurt me like Luke’s mother did him. “I just know what I want now, and nothing’s going to stop me.”

I’ve known my life would be spent with Mads from the first moment I laid my eyes on her. I’ve tiptoed on the edge, trying to balance both our worlds, but she deserves the life I’m going to be man enough to give her.

“Clearly. Heads up.” Luke’s words signal the exchange is happening like planned.

Two men dressed like us step closer. They stand side by side, acting casual.

“Boys.”

They don’t give me the same greeting. “You have it?” one of them asks.

A low grumble escapes me. “Not, hello, how are you or a thanks? Just, you have it?”

The one who asked lets out a breath, saying nothing. I suck in my cheek, but I lift the corner of my joggers so they can see.

One of them turns and nods his head. “Wait here,” I’m told. “You, with us.”

Luke slaps my chest with the back of his hand when he’s summoned. “Don’t be late for dinner.” His joke makes me laugh as I watch him walk away with the men.

Left on my own, I wonder what updates I’ll be graced with today.

“You gonna hand it over or do I need to go in there and fetch it myself?” The voice from behind me doesn’t make me turn my head.

“You can’t handle what I’m packing.”

“Take it out.”

I subtly remove the photos I was ordered to take, then hold them by my side.

The Saint takes them from my grasp. “Dozy cunt,” he says. “Trust he slept well?”

“He’ll be out for hours.”

The Saint chuckles, looking at the photos in his hand. “Good.”

“What do you have for me?” I ask.

“Nothing more I’m afraid.”

I turn, looking directly at him, my face tight. Anger sets up shop deep within.

“I can tell that’s not what you wanted to hear.”

“No, that’s not what I wanted to hear.” I wanted information on Costa the moment I found out he was changing the way things were going to work. That was over a month ago now. “He sucked my club in deeper. You told me you could get me information on him.”

“And I have.” The Saint shakes his head, likeI’mthe delusional one here.

“Telling me what I already know, doesn’t help.” Travis established pretty quick that Vincent was in way over his head with Costa. And now by default, so are we. “What I need—”

“—What you needed, was the red light removed from your head. And have I, or have I not done that?”

My teeth grind together. “You’veheldit over my head.” The prick.

“Tomatoe, tomato. You’re still fucking breathing.”

Looking him square in the eye, I picture watching the life drain from his eyes.

“Got one more in you?” One more? He said that last time. With malice, he raises his eyes to look at me. “You won’t need to watch your back once it’s done.”
